She admitted having tampered with her electricity meter and could not remember when she had last bought electricity, but said this was still no reason to treat people with so much indignity.

“I was spending almost my entire pension grant on electricity, leaving me with very little to survive on. My grown-up children, who are jobless, came up with the idea of bypassing the meter, and I agreed to do that because it was really hard,” she said. Makhubu said she had not paid for electricity for about five years.

Ah yes
When you are used to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

Maybe they should buy electricity like everyone else. Or just use less.
 
They always cry victim this demographic, all their misfortunes are self inflicted but they never see it that way. Victims of themselves.
