The Presidency is "concerned" after "claims made in the National Assembly" that President Cyril Ramaphosa refused to answer a question on Phala, Ramaphosa's spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said in a statement on Wednesday.

This follows Tuesday's question session, where Ramaphosa refused to answer the question on Phala Phala.

"On a proper reading of the question, President Ramaphosa did, in fact, answer the question," alleged Maggwenya."

The President responded that he stands ready to take the nation into his confidence and that he would do so through the due legal and Parliamentary processes."

You'll probably understand this better: The ANC won't hold their president to account in the same way that the GOP wouldn't do for Trump and voted to acquit him. It is the self serving nature of politics.

Not really.

Trump's major weakness in office is that he didn't have any meaningful influence over the GOP, especially when they had control over the house, senate and presidency. He got to the presidency despite pretty much the entire GOP aristocracy being against him. They only tacitly gave him support.

The biggest piece of legislation he needed to pass was to gut ObamaCare. But the GOP in the senate tanked it.

Point is they supported and shielded him because they were hitched to the same wagon as him. If they'd let him be impeached they'd have had to admit that he was a disaster. They even supported him through the stolen election thing - well, some started to drift off muttering at that point. The health care thing is probably another area where they felt he's over the line. Their inner conservative couldn't let that pass, but they otherwise supported him because they were stuck with him. Same with what the ANC are doing and that is despite the fact that about half of their elected reps would want CR to be toppled but they want him gone their way.
