"This was done partly because the CEOs of Cell C, MTN, Vodacom, and Telkom asked for the president’s help to deal with the potential repercussions of the Huawei ban. "

The usual rent-seekers feeding misinformation to him.

This should be the least of anyone's concerns. If the most ignorant statement Ramaphosa makes is about not showing sufficient deference to the Greatest Country In The World and their Greatest Technology we're doing pretty well.

And in terms of value-proposition maybe Huawei is the company that can sell 5G tech for cheap enough for South African networks to bother installing it sooner rather than later.

Personally I consider CR to be pretty smart. BUT - he's not a technology boffin. For that he employs other people - and most likely here is where the real problem lies. If the cANCer can't run anything properly, how can you expect them to have anyone who's capable of giving poor old CR advice.

Obviously he's no IT guru, but the essence of which he said was true: the US sees Huawei as a threat to Google, Apple, etc. and the US is starting to play dirty to maintain its advantage.

Cue the US imperialist apologists.

Hardly the complete traimsmash as the article suggests. They're the world leader in the tech with competitors behind, largely due to a high R&D budget. Ericsson and Nokia tech exists but isnt in par.

They may use components from a variety of sources in executing, so what?

My thoughts exactly!

So the person in charge of fixing the ailing economy has no clue about business.

He has no clue about most things.

"no killings of… white farmers in South Africa"

Heading should read:
President Ramaphosa's comments about most things are lies

He's a mouth puppet for China o obviously he will defend Huawei with all there is.

Bloody ridiculous. Thought things might be different with him but it all seems to have been hot air. Very disappointing.

If CR needs to retract his statements here, imagine how much time time Trump is gonna have to spend retracting his comments.
