Pretoria chef and restaurant owner loses R600,000 after phone snatching

Hell what is up today all these morons...
When you get robbed the first thing you do is get ahold of all the accounts that linkup to the cell and tell them to BLOCK IT. Another case of self-entitlement or pure friggin laziness (oh wait I'll do it all tomorrow) Moron Chef
I've personally see how they disassemble a bricked phone for parts and how they hack the ever-so-loving **** out of it. His statement of FB is soo laughable, the whole world is like this, who the hell takes out a cellphone and leaves it on the table for the whole world to see. Just rubbish go leave the country, blame only yourself.

Yeah no, today in the world, you do not add any personal information, let alone bank cards on mobile devices. Golden rule... never make use of payment apps on any device. Phones are what they are. Phones. Use them to make and receive telephone calls only. There are a reason why you are being sent a debit or credit card protected by a password.

Not just one bank, dude got taken from Standard and Nedbank. Ouch

This gave me cancer

“It was all being transferred from all my accounts in Standard and Nedbank to Capitec accounts all over South Africa and being drawn from autobanks [ATMs],” Mazzone said.

And that folks, is but one of the reasons why FICA is useless, and why FATF have greylisted South Africa.

I got refunded, but had to make a fuss about it.

That article sounds like bs of the highest order, his phone was snatched and then the perps cleared out 2 of his bank accounts including credit cards, some even after the accounts had been frozen by the bank themselves??

And then this gem: “Mazzini also said he was selling one of the most expensive wines sold in South Africa to aid with the financial recovery. He had bought the bottle of 1969 Grand Vin of Chateau Margaux at the 2000 Nederburg Auction for R250,000 but is now selling it for R120,000.”

He’s going to sell a wine that’s now 25yrs older and hence more valuable for half what he paid 25yrs previously, someone is conning someone and it doesn’t seem to be the so called victim.

This reminds me of the gent who went missing... after withdrawing R500 000 cash within a bank

They found his body 1 week later

Was it an “inside” tip off?

There must be more to this story. Nothing adds up about it.

There are so many red flags.

It is far more likely that this is an insurance scam rather than some sophisticated attack.

People have lost much more through far simpler attacks.

Does no one cancel lost / stolen cards these days?

Reading the article...... i saw where it all started...

“My bank accounts was frozen”

NOW... I am getting weekly sms’s of fake banking requirements that say “click asap here to have your bank accounts not frozen”

If you know your Fica status... dont believe crap / phishing
