This what i get-->
Download: 5,392 bps
Upload: 7,480 bps
QOS: 41%
RTT: 48 ms
MaxPause: 5954 ms

Something is seriously wrong here as I usually get full speed. +/- 1024kbps

Look carefully at these speed posts, I've got the lowest RTT, but yet the slowest connection / longest MaxPause. MrH has the shortest MaxPause, yet with the worst RTT, he gets the best speed. Some throttling going on, I would say...
BTW, my IP is still in the 196.2.105.x range.

Any news on the Centurion tower?

it is frustrating not being able to receive e-mail (POP3).

But web access seems to be fine.

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

* Download time: 603.032 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 6.8 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 0.8 (kiloBytes/second)

Centurion Tower as well

I now at last got an IP quite different from the previous two (which was in the 196.2.105.x range) and suddenly the speed is relatively acceptable again, will keep an eye on it, however:
* Download time: 6.79 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 600.9 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 73.6 (kiloBytes/second)

Sheez, this forum is comparatively lightning fast to load now...

Have disconnected, reset MTU to what it was before the problem, reconnected and its still fine.

I also got a different ip now (196.2.107.*) speed is better, downloading still sucks, under 20KB/s, but looks like it's klimbing.
* Download time: 10.015 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 407.4 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 49.9 (kiloBytes/second)

I just disconnected for an hour or so.

This time I disconnected for only about 30 minutes, previously even an hour would give me the same IP and 8 hours in the same range... Somebody is playing again with throttling, etc. I also think this IP / UTID affinity thing has something to do with their VoIP experiments. [http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=23307]

Oh, and I phoned the helpdesk, told them to stop f#cking around and sort it it. Guess what? Sir, please check your MTU ... bloody idiots!
He told me he will escalate to technicians (which never would have happened) as when I asked for a reference number, only THEN did he start logging it in his system

/me wanders over to the 3G forum again

LandyMan, what is your IP range in (196.2.106.*)? Me and a friend had the same **** in that range.

They should get better qualified helpdesk ppl, oh I'm sorry, forgot they cost more - my mistake for someone who cares.

Yesterday speeds were **** on the Centurion mast. Phoned them and went through the usual trivial bull. He could not telll me what was wrong, what they are doing about it, or when it will be sorted out. Said I should take it up with their CEO but would not give me his cell number.

Anyway today is better but still slow speed to download gmail.

Another issue here is that for the past 4 days I can not access www.linux.org. Anybody else have this problem? Have mailed them everyday asking for an update to the issue, no reply, ..... big black hole that inbox is.

if connection is refused its definatly a server side thing, so they either blcoekd us from accessing it for some reason (spam?) or soemthing is getting changed
