And I still haven't had ANY feedback since first reporting it to helldesk on Wednesday and following up with Sassan on Thursday :(

I'm currently on 196.2.107.xxx, previously had the exact same probs on 196.2.105.x & 196.2.106.x

I took the direct route ... e-mailed helpdesk, cc Thami and Sassan. Second time only Thami and Sassan.

Maybe if you see the content of the e-mails you'll understand why they responded :D

Hi all,
From all these posts and complaints, it would seem that the IP range in 196.2.104.x is 'bad'. As a quick solution they might drop those IP's until sorted out fully.

I am having the same problem when assigned the following IP ranges: 196.2.105.X and 196.2.106.X.

I'm not so sure it is a IP range issue. They (WBS) changed something with their proxy servers or something and the idiots screwed it up badly!!!!!!

Just spoken to someone at helpdesk....they know about the problem and are working on it. He said the problem exist all over SA and not only in Pta.

I also suggested to him that they make use of the Incident Report to communicate these issues to their users!!!!

I am not sure either, put it points in that direction. I got a new IP 196.2.106.x, and it is WAAYYY better than 6.8kb/s

They are fiddling with the Centurion tower atm, as it took me quite a while to get connected.

LOL, WBS lacks basic logic.

If they just used their common sense then half their users would not be as upset as they are.

WBS: just let your users (Customers) know what is going on. I certainly would not be this upset if you let me know that you are aware of the problem and that you are WORKING on it. Should be the first step in Customer relations, COMMUNICATE. ;)

Today I am still going at +-30->40KBps - so im semi happy - can get back to actually doing things.
What I don't understand about a 'bad' ip range- is that Im supposedly then on a 'good' ip range right now - yet its about 1/4 or 1/3 of what its supposed to be. So there is a unacceptable problem ('bad ip range') and a severe problem ('degredation of speeds').

I can't connect to iBurst since Thursday - Centurion tower.

The helpdesk is treating my like a moron - please tweak this and that for the umpteenth time - please co-operate sir - if you refuse to do it again and again we are not prepared to handle your call.

BTW: The "there is no problems" changed to "we are aware of some minor problems" to "we'll send a gtechnician free of chargeg" when I mentioned the MyADSL website.

Bunch of lying bastards - why can't they tell the truth from the start?

I'll give them one better than Telkom: They actually have supervisors in the call centre, and the supervisor did call me in 10 minutes (if not less) as promised.

Reply from WBS - 11 July 2005

This is an extract from the reply from WBS that I received this morning, in fairness to WBS (no response) and to enlighten others in the dark:

"I had several engineers, including myself conduct various tests in Pretoria and Wonderboom last week. Although we did not discover any evident problem, we are still investigating the issue.

Some maintenance was done on Sunday morning for Pretoria base stations. This was posted on the incidents page - the maintenance however, was not related to the issue you are reporting.

We will perform certain changes tonight, soon after midnight, to alleviate possible problems. I have noted your concerns on IP address, and possible association to any issues."

BTW, I'm back on my original bad IP: 196.2.105.0 :mad:

Why only work on the problem tonight?

The problem exists right now - already for a few days!

Agreed, the system is unusable as it is, might as well take it down right now (or even last week already) and fix it ASAP :rolleyes:

I have added the poll, I hope you all agree with the options - there were no suggestions as to what options to have, so I have used my noggin & created some - it is now too late to change if you disagree...

Please note: you must select more than one option/answer - it is a multiple-choice poll, and therefore your combination of choices will be public, i.e. forumites can see which options you chose...

My connection was dropped at 13:00.I now have an new IP: 196.2.106.xxx
and my speed is better

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

* Download time: 11.406 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 357.7 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 43.8 (kiloBytes/second)

STILL ONLY 1/3 OF WHAT IT SHOULD BE!!!!

The IP doesn't seem to be a real factor, although I suggested it early on, I've now had bad speeds on:
196.2.104.xxx
196.2.105.xxx
196.2.106.xxx
196.2.107.xxx
Also reasonable (not suffering from severe premature cappulation):
196.2.107.xxx
196.2.105.xxx

My connection went down around 13:45 and since then I can't get to any of the speed tests.
webpages have almost come to a standstill and looking at DU meter it seems to be spiking.

Tried rebooting the modem, router and PC, but it goes fast for about 5sec and then starts spiking again. :confused:

Checked the incident reports which also took ages to load as well as the BS status and according to them there's nothing wrong.

Looks like the cr@ has hit CT as well now. :eek:

Ping test is between 80ms and 93ms and I cannot DL anything, also got "connection Refused" and was logged out of Myadsl a few min ago. :mad:
