So a friend asked mine to check if this setup is worth the price tag, i don't really know the price of stuff since the Intel/AMD price drop. Is this worth it or is there some were else they can get a complete system for cheaper or a more powerfull one for the same price? (don't really want to have to build it for them). And he needs the PC to do some engineering work where he renders 3D models of buildings will the 6600 GPU be enough?

R1400 extra for the difference between a 6600 and 6800? No DVD writer? No LCD monitor?

My advice: buy the same setup with a DVD writer for about R3500-R4000. Add another R2500 for a 6600GT and 17" LCD monitor.

But is the price about right? Are there any online stores or something that sell complete PCs?

Scooby, have a look at www.computersonly.co.za , homepage, scroll down to full pc bottom right, and see what R8200 can buy :
AMD 3800+
200GB SATA
1 GB RAM
17" LCD
LG DVDRW (with Lightscribe)
XFX 7600GT XXX

Unfortunately the link on those PCs doesn't provide more info

2500 FOR 6600 GT ARE YOU MAD

i dont advise a 6600 for high end gaming
nothing less than a 6600gt will do

phone a place like matrix warehouse and ask them for a quote

6600GT is R1700-R1200
Also look at the 3.0Ghz Dual core CPU (930) +- R1500 (2x 2Mb Cache)

Thx again guys its just i'm sure i could make it really cheap for him by getting individual compoinets but i'm not in the mood to mission that... so if anyone has a nice place that sells premade PCs (the gpu can be bought later) plz list them here.
