From what I can see on Amazon they're similar priced but ours are manufactured locally I think.Apparently Levi's are cheap jeans in America and they are positioned very differently here.
Well if they're imported then sars whacks something like 50% tax, plus 14% vatApparently Levi's are cheap jeans in America and they are positioned very differently here.
You buy without looking at the price first? Who does that?A while back my SO pointed me at a shirt and said "Buy that". I tried it on, it was nice...went to the till to pay....R1,400.00.

I'm a dude so i don't do tons of shopping every month, but if something like Five Four Club can be started in SA it would be amazing.

Their clothes look pretty cool, it's affordable and convenient.
Haven't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if anyone has commented on the shocking quality of clothes in this country.
I've been wearing Levi's for more than 25 years and over the last 5 or so I've noticed that they get holes in the crotch after about 18 months or so. I still have a pair made 15 years ago that are fine. The common thread seems to be that those assembled in South Africa don't last.
Woolworths clothes are also shoddy. Their jerseys develop holes after 1 winter and the shirts fray around the collar after a few washes.
Shoes are another issue.
You just can't buy affordable stuff that has any sort of durability.
I find it difficult to get good quality formal office wear. I just want a plain and simple tailored jacket and skirt, for instance, and all I can find are rags (Woolworths), weird short jackets that looks like they are tailored to fit dungbeetles (Edgars) or skirts that are designed for people that have no waists (Queenspark). All of it overpriced.
And no decent formal winter shoes: just clumpy clog-like court shoes or blunt-toed matronly shoes, not even leather.
I feel for my SO. Complete unavailability of formal women's wear in SA. In UK, can pick up Charles Tyrwhitt / TM Lewin / Thomas Pink suits and shirts for women easily.
You do know you get TM Lewin and Thomas Pink in SA nowadays
Gant is also a brilliant brand.
