Doesn't anyone on the forum know how the clothes industry work?
Is there for instance a "billabong", "BadBoy", "Stone Harbour" etc factories?, can someone buy directly from them?, what happens to the thousands of clothing wear that does not get sold?
When i was younger there use to be these shops that sold faulty clothes, has these also disappeared?

Look out for sales at cape union mart. Their clothes are usually expensive but I get a good deal now and then. Their quality also is great

Anyone shop at Access Park? I generally save up and just do a big shop there about twice a year. I just use Edgars to buy jeans and the 'essentials' like underwear and socks and only when they have those specials. Other than that I don't mind spending some cash for quality items that should last a while - within reason of course!

I have noticed the same thing! Good God the prices of things are insane! They basically force you to have a store account (whicha t Edgars is luckily 6 months interest free). The other problem is cheap clothes. They just don't last.

9 out of 10 clothing items I buy, are on specials. I feel the special prices should be the normal prices. My favourite being sportsman's warehouse yellow tag, and edgars 50% off charter club. I hit those at least once a year but they happen twice annual.

+1
Also like the stuttafords 50-75% sale of everything - which happens once a year

You will be surprised by the price of kids' clothing now days too. A good quality, 2-3 years old winter jacket can set you back almost R500. I can, and do, buy cheaper things at Ackermans and Mr. Price, but after a few washes, the clothing starts to fall apart and looks ragged.

Tell me about it...
I wonder how much we will be paying for clothes in the next 10 years...

As for jackets, hubby saw a nice jacket at Truworths Man last year, but didn't have enough money for it at the time; it was R600.
This year, same jacket came back at R800!!! Really?

OP try have a look at The Hub/Meltz. They have nice jackets for R350. Funny thing, they are next to Jeep ones (R1100), they look the same and quite franckly, and I didn't see any difference quality-wise either. If there is, it's a really insignificant one.

Woolworths quality has gone down over the years. If you look at their black shoes, all of them are generic chinese crap.

Not anymore buddy. Absa only allows existing interest free accounts to remain. New accounts all accrue interest.

You are not missing much. It's all the clothes no one wants and only ever size S or XXXL left.

Finding XXL anywhere is like finding water in a desert, its like any range of clothes only gets 1 XXL. Luckily in Woolies the XL normally fits me, but the prices and non exciting variety :-(
The whole clothes market is BS, they are charging a insane amount of money for a small piece of material, its daylight robbery, sure international brands one can understand, but how the fark do they charge these prices for locally made clothes , what does material cost?, im sure if one works it out, it will probably cost something like R40 - R50 to produce a jacket, and they sell it for R900. And they know they can charge it because what choice do we have?
