I guess you make your own clothes from old PnP bags.

seriously mate? you need a PNP bag over your head! permanently!

Lion will tailor make you anything you want. I mean ANYTHING. yes you can chose fabrics etc. he has a collection of hugo boss fabrics, dunhill etc.. you chose.
thats for formal dress.

he has a decent casual range of fabrics and off the shelf stuff as well. worth the look ya.
just to add - the price of tailoring casual wear must be considered carefully. pants and stuff are ok, but t shirts cheaper to buy a polo golfer from him than to get him to make you one with the polo fabric.

i stay away from the Indian tailors rife in jhb. poor workmanship and sub- par fabrics added to that their prices becoming more and more hectic...
kinda like the same issue with the retailers, just dressed up as a tailor! lol!

pboy, do you have a recommendation for a tailor in the Pretoria or even Centurion area? My husband has to wear formal suits for work. He's tall and fussy about fabric and cut and he doesn't like the stuff in the department stores and the stuff he does like is criminally expensive.

What is the obsession with effing 'slim fit'? I swear only thin people shop. Saw some ohk stuff at jet yesterday and the Edgar's house brand is all i buy without a sale. Prices they are truly insane OP.

Slim fit is for those of us who take care of ourselves.

Try "Large & Lovely" for your needs :whistling:

Absolutely know how you feel! I sew my own clothing from time to time - when I have the time to do so - and I hate walking through the stores to do some shopping to see how much the items cost! I know what goes into making the clothing, and it's not that difficult. And it's not as though the fabric quality is amazing.

Hubby bought a pair of Woolworths underwear a year ago - went to buy the exact same brand, and the fabric was thinner and more see-through.

And when you think of the fact that most clothing comes from China - where people are working on absolute minimum wage, I see no justification for the prices.

I'm so depressed that Meltz closed down - they had excellent clothing at great prices.

Not all closed down. Most though. AFAIK they applied for business rescue and most of the stores were shut down as they were unprofitable

How typical, someone sells cheap branded clothes, then no one supports them...:crying:

Cheap, yes. Branded, not really.
When they were still in the Marlboro warehouse they sold branded clothes. Definitely not in their stores (not in quantity anyway)

Even though it probably does, it's of much better quality. Not everything from China is the same quality

Have you unpacked clothes from China? Stock for Edcon and TFG as examples are trash quality. Refer to my post in the woolies thread.
