Is there a problem on the Vodacom network anyone is / was aware of.

Was all happily connected on HSDPA in Houtbay since from about 19:15 and then all of a sudden _____________________________ @ 20:45

flatline, nothing, couldnt even renegotiate a signal. This was from a Linksys router with HSDPA and not forced, but allowing any other connections as well.

Nokia 6230 also did not want to connect on GPRS, "Temporary Network Problem"
nogal.
First time I have had this....

Phoned 155 @ 20:55, couldn't take the Pet Shop Boys anymore so I pressed the button (#) @ 21:05
hhhhmmmmmm :(

Still no connectivity @ 21:40

SO, what's going on??????

Good question.I feel your frustration. So VOdacom3g, the "press # and we'll call you back" promise is still a waste of time? I wonder how many people you have to raise this with before something constructive is done?

Best answer I have for you is "probably"? Is it the default?
I do not have the router with me at the moment.
Nothing has been changed since it worked absolutely beautifully last week from the same location and also for 90 minutes or so tonight.

My phone's service settings is Internet.GPRS.
I just tested GPRS on my phone again and it still tells me "Temporary network problem". My location has now changed to Bellville. Still the same problem as in HoutBay.
I bet the HSDPA data card and Linksys router would then also still be problematic... :(

We didn't try to connect on another APN.

Why would it just drop though?

Is there like certain steps or troubleshooting one must do to find out what is going on? I will do it if it will help to determine what the problem is / was.

You not aware of any network outages / problems?

Problems with HSDPA / Data

I am getting regular disconnects in the Hout Bay area - but works OK when connected (as at 06h00, 20 July)

I had the same connection problems also shortly before 21:00 using a SE V800 on 3G/GPRS. Would not connect at all, I tried every few minutes until 22:00, without any luck.

This morning it was fine again.

Same problem here...last night could not connect at all. Was fine again this morning.

EDIT. I take that back...can't connect at all...'Temporary network problem'. It's happening more and more often nowadays and getting very annoying.

At this moment i can not connect at all. But my other phone (se K700) connected earlier, and is still connecting, my v600i tho does not want to connect... (tried both vlive and internet.gprs settings, on both 3G and GSM only). Been having connection problems in bloemfontein area (willows/universitas) since about 9pm last night, seems voda does not want our money anymore!

Vodacom, what is going on?

I'd like an answer from Vodacom regarding these connectivity problems. Why are we not being informed? There are obviously wide-spread problems, resulting in 619 and 734 errors, experienced (at least in my personal experience) in Kempton Park, Edenvale, Pretoria, and today in JHB Central. Please see my thread regarding the 619 in Kempton, and someone else's regarding general connectivity.

Is it due to Virgin, riding on Cell C, which is swamping the Vodacom Network?

I can't get through to 155, and I'm not suprised - they are probably swamped with calls.

If there is any Vodacom representative on these forums, please can we as customers at least have an explanation?

Thanks, Ian

Also in Cape Town.
Get 619 about 6 or 7 times a day. Remove card, reinsert and reconnect and all is well for a while. Become a routine......

Only thing we can do is to get used to it, as with rules of getting skrewed by telecomunications under section 3a paragraph 1b we as the customer has to accept the fact that we will not always have good service, in fact never will we have proper service!

I feel that at least Vodacom owes us an explanation, and an action plan. Does anyone know of an escalation route, I'm tired of not being able to do my work at night. This has to go public.
