I intend runnig the Torque Pro app to monitor my cars ECU parameters via an ELM327 dongle that uses bluetooth. My phones screen is too small.

Ok, you do know the MSI has bluetooth right? Most, if not all tablets do.

I would still go for the 71, or if you are willing to spend a little more, the lenovo. I bought two 71's as birthday presents for my 7 and 9 year old nieces last month. Well built, steady and really quick.

i also want to get a cheap tablet for my car that has bluetooth functionality - also have an OBD2 Bluetooth dongle. Most of the "cheap" entry level tablets are wifi only. if its in the car, its going to get bashed about/sun/mounting...so dont need anything fancy.

Another option is for Lenovo Ideapad A3000 from Telkom Mobile - R99pm x 24 and you get 500MB data and 1.5GB night owl (11pm to 5am). But check if you have TM coverage where it will be used.

I has dual sim, so can have a sim for data use and another one for SMS. Fast and responsive. Has 13GB available for multimedia content. 1024 x 600 resolution.

I got one this weekend, loving it.

According to Telkom it's out of stock since Friday sigh, but will see. it is a great deal

Guys, am I missing something here? All tablets have bluetooth right? It has been a standard technology for a while now.

Where did you buy it from, MSI 71?

Takealot.com - I only buy from them, and for once they were actually cheaper than the rest.

I'd go with the proline, that folder with the keyboard alone is worth it for that price.

i have the alcatel T10 paid R899 from esquire, also a very good tab but can get a bit slow at times.

Telkom Lenovo deal has been pulled apparently, something to do with complaints of the OS on the Lenovo. They still have the Hauwei. But if you scroll down a bit, there is the Galaxy Tab 3 7" for R169. Probably the best deal of them all.

So Telkom store says they still have the Lenovo, and don't know what Telkom Call centre is on a bout. Soooo, it is still available. The LEnovo that is.

Nothing wrong with the OS, except that its protected so installing Avast anti theft rooted is a schlep.

It seems its the A3000-H model. Can even install a firmware version (with 1G app space and 12GB data space vs the 13GB space layout if comes with) to use it as a phone if I wanted. I don't want to.

I've got this Proline

http://www.proline.co.za/our-products/tablet/AK888-13/technical-specs/

Bought the 7" a while back and I got the 9.7" (long story).

It has Wifi and Bluetooth. Only issue I have is I don't know how to root it and I don't know how to upgrade the software. The update feature always says it's up to date. Other than that everything else works fine on it. It's fast and does everything I need it to do.
