It's OK... I was busy watching the Game of Thrones Final episode of Season 2! .... and then I went to bed.

You're forgiven... but this time only!

At 21h30 MTN Business experienced network connectivity issues that affected Hetzner customers across our Data Centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Partial services were restored shortly thereafter. However certain IP ranges were not advertised to the Internet correctly due to a technical problem. Full connectivity was restored at 01h40 with all Hetzner servers back online.

We are in discussions with MTN Business to better understand the cause of the disruption and would like to offer our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to our customers.

If you value uptime, MTN Business Gallo Manor Data Centre is not the right place to be.

Why Hetzner is still there I don't know. There are tons of far better equipped and designed centres around.

Conspiracy theory:

The USA was so mad at MTN for going underground and bypassing the sanctions against Iran, that they decided to teach them a lesson and hit them where it hurts. It could either have been a direct attack, or attempt to break the network security to obtain information.

Just had a brief 2 minute outage of all our sites at Hetzner - looks like MyBB was down briefly as well. Weird.
