Please can somebody tell me where in JHB I can get a proper Mini USB cable to fit my Samsung phone?

All the cheap Chinese stuff is useless and dont last, so on Wednesday I go to Dion Wired and buy an Energiser branded one that the saleman told me is great quality with a 2 year warranty.

2 Days and it is falling out of the phone's port, the 2 little clips that must hold it secure has totally collapsed.

My Samsung cable that came with the phone and is used at home is still perfect after 19 months, but all the other cables I buy to use when traveling are terrible. Where can I find an original Samsung Cable or one of similar quality?

I got a nice braided cable for my Note8 from Vodashop. Have been using it for 3 weeks, no issues.

Thanks, will try Vodashop!!

PS - How is your experience with the Note 8 so far? My Note 5 is due for upgrade in 6 weeks, and I will be getting the Note 8 then.

I had Note 2,3,4 and 5 (Luckily never the self igniting 7)

My previous phone was the S7edge. It's a nice phone, but I missed my Note. The Note4 being the last one I used for two years.

In one word, the Note8 is fantastic, and it will be a good upgrade from the Note5. You will definitely not be disappointed.

A Samsung shop in a local mall? I know there's one in Vodaworld, but that's Midrand, not JHB. I don't know Joburg all that well, but one of those big malls should have a Samsung store. Or, along the same lines, any half-decently stocked cellular outlet should have good quality cables- Samsung and other brands.

Ironically though I have an Energiser micro USB cable, charging only (one of those that can swap out the micro USB part for something else like whatever apple uses- but I think I tossed everything except the micro USB part), that I use in my car, have had it for more than 2 years now, maybe longer and not a single problem yet.

The cables themselves are okay, but the part that goes into the phone's port sucks. The 2 little pins that must hold it collapsed on my Energiser.

The white is Original Samsung at 19 months old
The Black is Energiser at 2 days old

The best I found was a Snug cable. Pretty expensive from Incredible corruption, R250 if I remember correctly, but I was fed up with the cheapies.

Jip, better than buying a R100 one and having to go back everytime it fails.

Just went to Samsung Shop in East Rand Mall, they do not stock them, refered me to the Vodashop. But they only have the Energiser ones, which are terrible. They stock a Superfly one for R299, but they are out of stock.

Will try Samsung store in Eastgate, maybe more luck there.

Don't want to order online, because if I get a crap one again, it is not as easy as just driving back to the store to return it.

Takealot is usually quite good - if its crap, you log the return, then they come and pick it up from you with a courier

The Anker braided ones are really nice. My fav by a large margin.

Expensive though...the one I have was on sale or something. Don't think I'd pay full. It's just a cable
