/ off topic: is it just me or has there been a spree of stupidity lately - idiots defending the CoJ and revealing a lack of understanding of the meaning of unauthorized for example.
You are not alone...

good as long as I am not the one being an idiot.

Back to topic and with some seriousness: There is not need for any "sanctions" for "download hogs" a properly managed network is able to ensure that the maximum utilization of the network can be accomplished with fairness. Heavy downloaders may find their connection shaped and downloaders on products which have a stated fair use allocation will find their accounts throttled in accordance with the declared and stated fair use product. Networks which provision fairness by way of a cap or quota or whatever else are on the most basic of levels the same as an uncapped offering.

Now the sanctions for abusing the network should include being denied access to the network and so on. Abusing the public's trust and intelligence should however be met with the sanction of public flaying.

Having seen all the trouble download hogs cause with their excessive porn and mindless game downloads, I propose the following sanctions (and incentive):

GB/month
<= 50 : A bonus joint.
> 50 <=100 : A coupla slaps through the face.
>100 <=150 : 20 lashes.
>150 <= 250 : 50 lashes and 20 kicks.
>250 <= 1000 : Chop off their click-hand.
>1000 : A choice of being stoned or crucified.

I think this is fair and will be welcomed by the beleaguered ISP's, but suggestions welcomed.

I'll try and absorb them wise words.

You mean a nerdy type of environment?

Fortunately, there are some here that are not totally full of it.

It was a stoopid thread. About stoopid nerdy crap. I'll get my coat.

That's what MWEB said and look how well that turned out.

Personally I'd rather join the queue to bitchslap CEO's of companies that lie, like MWEB.
