T20 killed ODIs as a spectacle. IPL has become the new world cup. The ODI world cup doesn't mean anything anymore. Also world cricket has decided on an system of the 3 commercially valuable nations Eng,India and Aus playing each other constantly.
A win by a insignificant commercial valued nation will mean nothing in the big scheme of thing.

The ODI trophy still means a lot to me. I don't think you can definitively spit out that it means nothing.
 
the sport takes a back seat even: if you willingly gave up the mighty Springbok emblem in exchange for a damn flower ... well you're going to be second rate at the best of times

the proteas can have our full support from Sunday onwards, until then they don't exist

Overall cricket is nearly comatose in SA, too many cliques, too few marketable stars....when Quentin retires, there's no one that can be a household name like AB, Gibbs, Smith, Pollock, Makhaya or Kallis and Hansie. Yes Klaasen looks good now, but how many splash in the pan players have come and gone over the years.

Cricket also needs to be FTA to be viable in SA, since there's no cricket on SABC, casuals stopped caring.
 
Has the corruption and maladministration at cricket South Africa been sorted out yet?

Until then, cricket SA deserves no success.
 
both - but ALWAYS rugby - it is the glue that holds us together...even through the darkest nights...sponsored by Eskom ...Who could have ever thought, rugby ... it's is firmly part of our DNA as a country/ ....many peoples, one nation #strongertogther always!

Please list all the splash in the pan players who performed as well as klaassen has. Thanks.
