Seems he will be a handy all-rounder yet. But his batting average is only 7 above his bowling average and his bowling average is likely to increase.

Edit: Think he might be out though

Do you guys need to continually jinx our team?????

Elaborate?

Apparently 600 scores are not unknown on this pitch.

If Sri Lanka come in and score over 600 in their first innings and we end up batting last there could be trouble for us.

James: "Vinay, Statsguru says* that, in the last 5 years, the Cricinfo jinx has claimed 267 test wickets at an average of 2.78 each. Better than Hadlee, Warne or Ambrose in the last 5 years. *This is entirely made up!" Insert evil laugh here

Thank you. Under the circumstances I am going to stick my neck out and back our bowlers to nip them out for a lot less. The bowling attack has aggression and variety and the possible holding ability of Philander and JP.

I reckon even Morkel can get to 30+ on this track.

EDIT: JP to get a ton - looks in good form

2.40pm: Another tiring session for Sri Lanka. Just the one wicket down and 83 runs scored. Will Duminy speed up post tea towards a century? Join us at 3pm for the final session.

Maybe they're playing for a draw? It seems like the most likely outcome at the mo. Cannot rule out an implosion of SL batsmen, but if this pitch is flat it ain't going to happen?

There is already variable bounce and dust appearing. I won't scream draw so early.

Lakmal to Morkel, no run, big shout for lbw! This was angled in and striking the back pad, could that have gone down leg? Sri Lanka are reviewing it, pitch outside off, Hawkeye shows that shaving the leg stump, no inside edge but not enough to over turn the decision

I was sure that SL had used all their reviews. So be it.

OK, now that we are comfortably over 400, I believe that we can start putting a lot of pressure on SL.

Will be difficult for us to lose from here.
