/gets rain dance outfit on...
Of course not. I don't know, call me a purist but I've always believed the ultimate test wicket has pace and bounce to keep the quicks interested, is true in nature to reward shot making and then takes turn on days 4 & 5 when the spinners have a say. When you are opening the bowling with a spinner halfway through day 2, then something just doesn't seem right.
Anyway, that's my opinion of it. If I'm clearly in the minority on this one, then so be it...
Post 800 in 2.5 days.
Giving them the last innings.
Bowl them out.
We win.
Slightly optimistic?![]()
At this rate, at the end of Day 3, we would only be on 270 runs...

I'm concerned about the inconsistencies of our openers.
Elgar is new to the opening slot and we were spoilt with Smith and before him Kirsten.
Having an opener with a 45+ average will be missed.
agreed, kirsten is sorely missed...
So I take it you do not think Smith was a great?
smithy, i dunno.. he was a bit unpredictable... came out on top on a good few occasions.. but for the last couple years of his career.. was a bit too inconsistent for an opening batsman..
im a bit undecided with smith
Graeme Smith is the greatest 4th innings batsmen
