Is it 90 overs maximum a day or is it the minimum of overs that can bowled? Sri Lanka is getting through their overs so quickly 90 overs will be up before scheduled close of play

What happens is when they hit the last hour of play, a compulsory minimum of 15 overs have to be bowled. The rate Sri Lanka is going though, that could easily be 20.

IIRC, its 90 overs min, or until time is up. and they have to also make up overs for rain delays. So I think they will play until 6pm [or whenever cut-off is there]

Lucky Faf!!!

But, if SL did not make that howler of a review against AB earlier, they would have had another wicket. :)

its 90 overs minimum, but there is also a timelimit. usually here by us, depending on the start time, 6pm is the cutoff, they can bowl as much as they can before that. Don't know what the local time there is, but if their session times are the same as ours, they should have left about 2h40. which means if their over rate is 20 per hour, they can shove through another 50 overs lol

I first did the exam in the late 80s while playing premier league cricket. Also did a few coaching courses, then run by Yogi Bear! I always maintained (and still do) that if you captain a side you should know the Laws of the game. It also bought me many bonus points with the umpires!!!

Not involved at the moment. Work and business and family keeping me too busy but that will soon be changing. :D

Agree and all the players should know the laws as well. I remember one of the Premier League games I umpired in the Gauteng League there was a bowler that kept on appealing for LBW but the ball pitched outside leg everytime. He was bowling right arm around the wicket to a right handed batsman He got so upset with me. He did not even know the LBW rule properly. So I suggested he goes and studies the laws.

They only need to make the time up if they are behind on overs, if they are ahead then the extra will not be needed as far as I am aware.

Perera to Amla, OUT, they have the big one, Mahela takes this at slip and runs towards the boundary, tossed up high and full, Amla has resisted driving at these till now, probably the state of his leg, probably he is tired, but he has a go at the drive, and Mahela has not built up that record at slip for nothing, he snaps up a sharp chance
HM Amla c Jayawardene b Perera 25 (159b 4x4 0x6) SR: 15.72

Surely the guys left can survive <2 hours? I don't see the game going over that.

I would agree, but the over rate by Sri Lanka is phenomenal. They churning out the overs and it will be a lot more than 30 bowled in a 2 hour session. Add that to the demons the batsmen are seeing out there, it would be a super human effort to outlast SL.
