Our reviewing has been piss poor. Lucky to get the 2nd one right. In effect it should be 0/3!!

Interesting stat!!!

First time in Test history that batsmen 1,2,3,4 have all been dismissed in the 30-35 range.

Minus poor umpiring and a couple of loose shots it's safe to say a huge chuck of the lead should've been comfortably eroded by stumps and herein lies the answer...

bowler economy
philander 1.89
daylight -----
steyn 3.78
abbott 3.38
morkel 3.76

Samules+Chanderpaul were not able to match Amla+AB. A follow-on is very possible. I think Domingo must give Steyn a litre of Red Bull during tea and instruct him to charge in mercilessly first up in the final session. 8-10 over uninterrupted spell from him should do it.

Only 1 bad call?
Be that as it may, it didn't look like a wicket would fall until then and we were into the toothless change bowlers. If that wicket doesn't fall Amla was going to turn to part-timers after Philander+Steyn and its plain sailing for the Windies. Come on admit it! I can assure you from then discussions in commentry would've been about how to make use of the 2nd new ball later and the absence of a spinner.

Cricket is a funny game... he could have been bowled with the next ball and Philander could have then picked up two mor efor a hat-trick... :p

Have they got hot-spot at the ground?

This is precisely why I say Philander&Tsotsobe even though both are medium, would make a fearsome combination as our opening bowling combination in Tests. They have excellent wicket-taking abilities and both are intelligent bowlers who swing the ball. We are really stuggling to take wickets upfront and I doubt a better solution exists. For how long have we been rotating Steyn&Morkel as opening bowler or first change just to address this? It can't go on for too long, especially when Philander himself has been at times poor&unproductive which further exposed the lack of wickets early. Other sides will take advantage of the situation, and to be fair WI nearly did.

Lol no WI were looking rather comfortable, allowing for the inexperienced nature of the opening pair of course.

I didn't notice it used in the first debatable call and the replays but I'm sure its there.
