Proxy autodetection scripts

So the guys here at work were so bright as to remove the transparent proxy, with the result we have to enter the proxy details manually in browsers, chat programs and what not.

This is a problem for me as I work from home quite often, and then will have to remove all this cr@p.

Is there a way to setup a script that if I connect to wireless network X, use a proxy, otherwise don't use a proxy?

You'd set up your browser proxy to 'use automatic configuration script' which you would link to your proxy.pac file. The script could be set up to return different proxies depending on your local IP or whatever...
