hi everyone!

got a slight problem at the mo! I want to connect the Slim Line PS2 console to an Acer LCD Monitor (without RCA inputs)....

i've been told by all at any audio visual shop that that can't be done. i know you can connect it via a PC with the right hardware, but if not, then I have a problem.

So my question, has anyone been able to do this before, or know of an adapter or cable that will make this work????

Please!

Or closer to home [might be better deals out, i just happen to know where this particular shop is in PTA]:

http://www.defcon5.co.za/common/ps2accessories.htm
VGA BOX:
R 700.00

Allows you to connect your X-Box, PS2, GameCube or any device that has a Video,
S-Video or Component Video output.

Features:
* Remote Controlled

* High Screen Resolution (800x600 - 1280x1024)
* Most Video Inputs supported (Composite Video, S-Video & Component / RGB)
* On Screen Display (OSD)

Another alternative, which i've done a few times with limited quality is to get a TV Card [or a GFX card with video-in] and plug the PS2 into that. This obviously require a PC Box running Windows or something as well. I usually do that with my laptop [USB TV adapter] when i'm trying to be mobile but still want to game [slimline PS2 just happen to fit into my laptop bag very well;) ] .

i already have a box similar to these, and it worked fine with a fujitsu crt minitor for years, but i bought a new LCD Acer AL1916W, 19" widescreen monitor. having plugged in the box exactly as normal i was annoyed to find that instead of displaying the gamecube startup screen it simply said "Input not supported"
i tried with my xbox, and the same thing happened, until the xbox crashed and then it very grainily displayed the screen telling me to consult my xbox dealer blah blah.
What is going on here? The box simply takes the RGB signal from the GC or whatever and puts it out of a monitor plug which allows you to plug the screen into the console, no PC or TV needed.

Why is it only not working on this screen??? acer support are useless because according to their site my model of screen does not exist :D
I hope someone else out there knows waht is going on, or at least has SOME suggestions.

Thanks, Tom
