1) Grown men arguing about gaming consoles, it's a ****** embarrassment to men all over.

2) Tempest, Atmos, Sonic audio, very few are going to pick up much difference at the end of the day.

3) Both consoles will push the FPS and other graphical elements to the max. Putting the same game side by side without any indicators which game is on which console, most if not all probably wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

4) Sony and MS doesn't give a **** about you, me, or any other person on this on thread. You don't need to pledge your loyalty to them.

5) I presume anybody reading this is a gamer. FFS, support each other's hobby, who cares on what play your hobby on. Let people spend their money on what they want.

Pfft this thread is fun!

Hell, forums were made for threads like these. You get people in the Sony camp, people in the Microsoft camp and then you get people who are on the fence and it's those people who can find information here to help make a decision.

Most of us can only buy one of the consoles. It's not about pledging loyalty. It's about making a decision about what your next console will be for the next X amount of years.

Hey, it's all about opinions at the moment.

So, you mention the advantages at launch of the "previous" generation (I'm going to call the PS5 and the Xbox Series the "current" generation for the purposes of this discussion.

Let's describe the likely "biggest factors" that the PS5 has during this launch. A huge, and loyal, fan base compared to the Xbone. Almost total agreement that Sony had the best exclusives previously (that you can still play now?) and has the best current exclusives, and also coming sooner than any the XSeries has.

Then, likely the better controller, and the better audio tech. And, I believe, but yet to be proved, at least the equivalent gaming performance of the "most powerful console on paper".

And all this at only $100 dollars more than the XSeries S, which has a third of the power of the Xseries X (comparing digital only editions with each other).

The only thing Xbox has going for it right now is GP. Where MS must be bleeding billions of dollars to enable this to the consumer.

Sony cannot compete with MS almost literally giving games away for free. But, like I've said before, I would rather play the best games, on the best platform. Maybe because I can (here in SA). But, I think, most gamers across the world would like to do so as well.
I was wondering when you would reply ;)

I made it clear i was referring specifically to MS marketing strategy alone. And i did indeed mention the "last generation" because the marketing for the PS4 was a stark contrast to that of the XO and you can clearly see how that turned out.

Having said that. This new generation the marketing of MS and Sony are completely different from the other. MS marketing this time is leaps and bounds better than what it was last gen. Not to mention the transparency And in doing so they gave themselves a very strong position to start off the generation. They seem to target a much broader player pool than what Sony is. And that is why i said they aren't playing on the same playing field.

I'm not going to say which i think is better because i can't give you a response based on facts. Actual gameplay performance being top of the list. With a lot of other factors to consider. Those will be revealed in due course.

I'm liking what Sony are doing with Tempest. If they can utilize in not only in exclusives but 3rd party as well then it might well turn out to be a big feather in Sony's cap. Sony are indeed banking heavily on it's current fanbase and exclusives for next gen. They'd be daft not to.

I'm not sure how the controller is a valid argument to make a system better than the other though? I think it's personal preference as both wil be very comfortable and a lot more tactile. The X/S controller being far more responsive so that's a very welcome improvement. I've always felt the DS4 giving a slightly faster response than the XO controllers. When it comes to ergonomics xbox wins hands down. (I have large hands) The Dual Sense looks fantastic. So let's hope it gets FULLY utilized this time around.

So i think the MS strategy as a whole. Is genius. And you simply can't fault them on what they are offering. Regardless of what you like to play on. They aren't just trying to sell Xbox consoles. It's a whole ecosystem. One that offers so much for so little. Sony are just pushing console sales. Because that's what it is. A console. Sony's trump card. They're only trump card. Are the exclusive experiences they offer. Some very good ones i might add.

That is why MS bought Zenimax. They didn't come to play. And that is why Sony will be competing with much more than just an XBOX console this generation. So that's why this generation will be a massive one. And we are all going to benifit from that.

Get off your high horse and... come play in the mud with us, you'll like it, I swear

On another note... the demographic on this forum is older than I expected. I like you lot and I hope you never lose the instinct to play. But this is bad for my productivity so I need to ban myself from here until I've caught up with some work...

tbh - i dont get this console bashing nonsense. who actually gaf?
if it's such a dramatic experience to justify your decision to go with console a/b - just get both. it's not that expensive.

but i'd wager your collective heads will explode as you wouldn't know what to hate on next.

A more fun and unbiased solution would be let your gf/wife choose and buy a console for you without telling her which one...

Well apparently if your console wins, your credit on the forum goes up, and your dick increases 4 inches in length (or is it girth?).
It’s imperative that you pick the right system.

Problem is the war stems from an underlying symptom. Cross-play

If you have a friend that play's on Console X while you play on Console B, either one of you have to buy another console (PS: mussel memory is a bitch) or find other friends to play with. It gets worse, you both have to make sure you buy the game on the same console if you both own both. Not that Sony wants you to crossplay to begin with.

Then there is also MMO type games like say Destiny: I know my friend plays it on PS and I play on PC, he is struggling his ass off to get someone to RAID with and when he does its always a bunch of kids. I have a whole guild that clear raids as if its a run in a park we could easy carry him.

We not even touching empty PVP lobbies in one medium vs Packed rooms.

So you have to predict which game will do well on what console waaay before you buy-in.

As long as those problem exists, people with fight cause the more people you have in your camp the more people you have to play with or against.

And if they switch? <--- like I said the problem stems with cross-play

Dont think this is an issue for Sony/Microsoft, rather devs, as some games already support crossplay. (I play COD on my PS4 with people on Xbox).
