The PS5 is probably running slightly hotter than the XBSX because of its side panels are mostly seperated from the console except tiny points it attaches to the console, this makes the console cool to the touch but also reduces the surface area for ambient cooling.

Not going to make a difference in product lifespan at all I feel although the PS5 uses boost clocks and there could be a few edge cases where removing the side panels might result in an extra 1 -2% performance in certain scenarios

Well, because you obviously know Sony is not going this route.

Secondly, it makes you a slave to the cloud, and the internet, and your ISP provider.

A) Guess PS Now is not from Sony then?
B) GamePass doesn't make you a slave to the internet. Just like Playstation, if you make your device primary it doesn't need internet access to play your installed or disk games even if Digital with no disk. Once your digital game is activated you can remove internet and play whenever you want.

As for the streaming services like PS Now, Xbox remote Play, Geforce now, Google Stadia and such, there I would agree it makes you a slave to the net and in SA our infrastructure is not ready for this to be the primary means for entertainment.

So, unless you buy it while it is on GP, you will not get a discount. And seeing as you have been paying $15 a month to have access to these games, how much of a discount is it?

In South Africa it's R100 per month for Game Pass on the console and R150 per month for Ultimate.

Also you don't have to buy the games. It's just an option for people who want to. I play a game on Game Pass and then I'm done. As I'm sure most people do the same.

And just like other gaming platforms, games go on special all the time. So a game doesn't have to be on Game Pass to go on special.

Why would anyone want to buy a Xbox? Don't they get beaten every generation for a reason?

Game Pass. Bethesda. All the developers Microsoft bought. Most powerful console. Windows integration.

And as previously mentioned, XBox weren't beaten every generation.

Technically they where beaten every round. You can say they where not last, but that doesn't make it a good or bad thing either.

For me simply put: Because of Xbox One's abysmal performance this generation they brought in full backwards comparability in a big way as well as simple seamless cross gen save/compatibility and pushing the limits om performance. I also don't think GamePass would have included Games for Gold and EA Play for that matter if Xbox where no 1.

Like I said before, I like supporting the underdog as they fight so much harder to get/keep me. So in my view I just get better value for money. I don't primary game on Console (This might change as time moves on) so I can technically play both's games if I wanted to but for now I bought an Series S for the living room as I will get more for my money. Esp if you take that 36 months of GamePass ultimate only cost me R1938 (Saving of R3462)

Or better put: One PS5 Game gave me equivalent of 3 years of Games for gold + EA Play Games + 1st day access to Microsoft games ;)

I should have said by Sony.

It was implied by this being an XBox vs PS thread. :p

Erm no, but then there is such a thing as different people like different things. Its the reason not everyone drives a Ford or that everyone don't use an iPhone.

Which brings me to point number 2
If there was no competition there also would be no innovation so doesn't matter what horse you back, as long as you play the game. Personally I prefer to bet on the underdog as they normally try harder to keep you. Constant winner normally end up becoming complacent and improve the bare minimum.

Interesting look at the console "wars" over the recent years: (Numbers are in the millions)

Sorry for not fact checking at 4 in the morning :p
Was the 1st hit I got thanx to Google...

Doesn't chance much as they still did not come last every round (Beaten like say Sega), still underdog and still give me a better deal re GamePass Ultimate for 3 years.

Yah, but I did see someone post here (I think) that he hoped he could finish a game before it got taken down by MS. And I must admit to a smile when I read the "I play a game on Game Pass and then I'm done...I'm sure most people do the same".

Sort of takes the wind out of the sails of all this backwards compatibility that MS keeps on hyping.

Non first party games are normally on Game Pass for 1 year. If you can't finish a game in 1 year then Game Pass isn't for you. Then you may as well buy one game and play it for a year. First party games are on there indefinitely.

What does gamepass have to do with backwards compatibility?
