Game Pass. Bethesda. All the developers Microsoft bought. Most powerful console. Windows integration.

And as previously mentioned, XBox weren't beaten every generation.

Keeping it in context . . . I could certainly see why GP would entice, but other than that, for me personally not enticing enough.

Sorry for not fact checking at 4 in the morning :p
Was the 1st hit I got thanx to Google...

Doesn't chance much as they still did not come last every round (Beaten like say Sega), still underdog and still give me a better deal re GamePass Ultimate for 3 years.

You keep harping on this 'underdog' as if MS is this lonely-downtrodden-hero struggling against all odds to overcome some ordeal!

Microsoft is hardly an 'underdog', the $7B recent acquisition proves that. If anything, Sony could bee seen as a viable underdog here.

What does gamepass have to do with backwards compatibility?

Because it gives you access to thousands of old games, didn't you know?

Besides, my comment wasn't specifically directed at GP - just the big hype and push from MS about backwards compatibility.

Pick one, either they winning the console "war" or not? (Selling the most consoles)

Microsoft is the biggest company sure
Apple has the most Cash on hand
Sony is the smallest in size and wallet

None of them make money from games exclusively

My Opinion:
Sony sell the most consoles (Normally used as a bar for winning) but in my view weakest deals.
Microsoft sold the least, best deals. So in sales I see them as undergdog -one that fights the hardest to "get me"
Nintendo has what some would say best games and sales but I don't personally like their games + consoles are expensive for what they are.
Apple Focus to much to tie you into their system.

Everything in life is a trade off, and we are all looking for different things. So if the one gaming model/method suits somebody better that doesn't invalidate what suits someone else better. I quite like the subscription service since it is comparatively cheap, and myself and my family can play what are essentially unlimited full play through 'demos' without having to worry about a steep entry price per game. But that doesn't mean someone else who wants to buy singular games outright is wrong or stupid.
I am quite happy with the drawback this presents of being a slave to my ISP, and to my electricity supplier. Insert snarky comment here about how tabletop gaming >> PS5/XBox since it is not a slave to the electricity grid.

How regularly does the Xbox need to do the GP check? I think Sony (for PS+) and Steam give you a week's worth of leeway. So being a "slave to the ISP" isn't THAT bad.

Playstation and GamePass: If its set as your primary device can last up to 3 months (Might be longer but that is longest mine been offline) without calling home. Don't know about Steam as I play mostly Destiny 2 that is a Online only game.

Edit: I see GamePass on PC is 30 Days and Xbox length is on a per-game basis and also set per game?

Let me help clear your confusion Game Pass is not like Playstation Now, the former allows you to play first party and third party games on PC or Xbox or mobile via XCloud, PlayStation Now is the service where you pay again to play your old games on your new console or to access them on PC.

Erm no, but then there is such a thing as different people like different things. Its the reason not everyone drives a Ford or that everyone don't use an iPhone.

Which brings me to point number 2
If there was no competition there also would be no innovation so doesn't matter what horse you back, as long as you play the game. Personally I prefer to bet on the underdog as they normally try harder to keep you. Constant winner normally end up becoming complacent and improve the bare minimum.

Interesting look at the console "wars" over the recent years: (Numbers are in the millions)

Oh wow, late to the party are we?

And your response to the rest?

Oh and reason I did not use latest numbers was " Microsoft announced in October 2015 that individual platform sales in their fiscal reports will no longer be disclosed. The company shifted focus to the amount of active users on Xbox Live as its "primary metric for success "

All this talk about ‘underdogs’ and console hardware, you kids forget that MS doesn’t care.

MS is a software company selling subscription based services. Sony is a hardware based company. Each winning in their own respected fields.

I’m all for a gaming service, Xbox live on 360 was leaps and bounds ahead of PlayStation 3.

Xbox online services and subscriptions are just better have been for a while. But then again that’s their industry.

To be fair though, the PS3 only "won" at the very end of that generation, after most of the exclusives and the price drops. The 360 was in the lead for most of the time.

Also when looking at the notes:
Sony corporate data reports 87.4 million sold as of March 31, 2017
Whereas the XBox 360 report is from 2014
