Why would anyone want to buy a Xbox? Don't they get beaten every generation for a reason?
That's a valid question. But the same question could be asked about a PS5? It simply boils down to preference. Nothing more. There's many reasons to buy an Xbox as others have pointed out. But same is true for PS5. There's nothing wrong with being a Sony fan. But your comment reminds me of the typical PS4 fanboys of this/last generation. The PS4 in terms of sales was the more successful console. But just because one "beats" another in terms of sales doesn't mean it's better than the other. The same argument can be made about the VW Polo/Vivo in SA. It far outsells the competition but does that mean it's the best car in the segment? Not even close. It always comes down to preference.
It works on influence/advertisement. People buy what they hear and see the most. Someone buys a console and his friends buy it and then those friends buy one and on it goes. The PS4 was advertised to perfection.
So i wouldn't care to much who "beat" who. Unless you are a Sony employee and benifit from sales? Which isn't the case. The console war is getting old and times have changed my friend. Sony are indeed still pushing hardware sales because the PS5 is just that. A console. MS aren't just selling hardware. They sell a ecosystem/software as well as consoles. So there's no console war anymore because you can't compare a company who counts subscriptions compared to just hardware sales of another. Because it doesn't matter if you play on PC/Series X/S/Mobile it's all the same to them. People will flock to whichever platform that offers the best experience for our hard earned cash.
We're all gamers here and play on different platforms. So when you lay your head down at night it's fine to think you bought the "best" console. That is your right.
But If you truly care which is better (seeing as it's a console meant to play games) Then wait to see which one runs the games better. Simple as that.
