I think I am losing an IQ point for every page I read of this thread.

Could not care less what console you buy and play on. While I prefer the Xbox brand, Sony has a great thing going with the Playstation. They have some incredible exclusives and sure the PS5 will be no different.

Go play Doom on that pregnancy test for all I care. A little teasing is fun but why does it have to sink to playground antics?

In fact I can still see people buying PS3's after the PS5 launch as that is the only way to play your PS3 games you own. The old 360 games have no problem running on Xbox one or Series X so there is no need to go and buy a 360 new or even secondhand. Hell Xbox owners can pop in an original Xbox game into the Series X, update and then play the game.

And how do you tell between New users vs replacements?

I know Microsoft stopped counting consoles sales and started counting Live subscriptions instead as its a better matrix.

That's a valid question. But the same question could be asked about a PS5? It simply boils down to preference. Nothing more. There's many reasons to buy an Xbox as others have pointed out. But same is true for PS5. There's nothing wrong with being a Sony fan. But your comment reminds me of the typical PS4 fanboys of this/last generation. The PS4 in terms of sales was the more successful console. But just because one "beats" another in terms of sales doesn't mean it's better than the other. The same argument can be made about the VW Polo/Vivo in SA. It far outsells the competition but does that mean it's the best car in the segment? Not even close. It always comes down to preference.

It works on influence/advertisement. People buy what they hear and see the most. Someone buys a console and his friends buy it and then those friends buy one and on it goes. The PS4 was advertised to perfection.

So i wouldn't care to much who "beat" who. Unless you are a Sony employee and benifit from sales? Which isn't the case. The console war is getting old and times have changed my friend. Sony are indeed still pushing hardware sales because the PS5 is just that. A console. MS aren't just selling hardware. They sell a ecosystem/software as well as consoles. So there's no console war anymore because you can't compare a company who counts subscriptions compared to just hardware sales of another. Because it doesn't matter if you play on PC/Series X/S/Mobile it's all the same to them. People will flock to whichever platform that offers the best experience for our hard earned cash.

We're all gamers here and play on different platforms. So when you lay your head down at night it's fine to think you bought the "best" console. That is your right.

But If you truly care which is better (seeing as it's a console meant to play games) Then wait to see which one runs the games better. Simple as that.

It's rather trite to say the fact that, for example, PS4 outsold Xbox One 2-1 is irrelevant. I'm sure the MS fans would love to consign that little tidbit to the dustbin. And now the latest excuse for it is that Sony advertised to perfection? Jesus in an indie game.

Talking about Jesus, why don't you folks just say it was gods will and Xbox had no chance. Then we can't argue because we can't disprove it

And not quite so simple. Better games are just as important. And lets not forget the controllers, which you chaps continuously try to ignore. And the audio tech. Etc.

I know you are wanting to pin best console on which runs games better, due to you hoping that the 12 TF's of the XSX will help in this respect. But as I've said before, don't be too sure about this. Also, what is you definition of better? Resolution, frame rates etc? What about load times? That will be interesting in itself.

Removing console preference and focusing on what they are made for (running games) is the only way to find out which is "better" without being biased. As i have also stated in my post. You misunderstood friend. Games and controllers are counted in my post. But they are subject to personal preference. Some like the DualShock. Other prefer the Xbox controller. Same with games. We don't all play the same stuff.

And again. We can't say which is better because it's a moot point. Because just like the controllers and games the platform itself is subject to the same personal preference? So the only way to look at it is from a performance perspective. Both have advantages. And we don't know which will run games better? The SSD speed you keep referring to is counted in because it forms part of performance. We know the technical difference already. We'll see if it makes a difference or not. Do you understand now?

Some will care about the theoretical performance gap the consoles might have. Others won't. That's all it is. Preference.
