i just started witcher 3 goty, ~200 of the local currency and it's a free upgrade for the ps5 edition, much fun too. also picked up doom eternal for cheap cheap, also much fun

i could never get used to the batteries (tf!?) and the odd shape of the xbox controller, it just feels... odd. i honestly couldn't care about comparing consoles. it's a moot point as it boils down to personal preference. if it's a hard requirement that you absolutely must have a 4k ui, then it's a personal preference (i dont care either) . if you have to have access to multitude games for an n period of time then gamepass is a personal preference, admittedly it's cool, but justifying what ~800 local currencies? p/m for that right, not for me.

i'd rather buy a r1.2k title and sit on it until it's done. hell witcher 3 will take me months to finish and it's an old title.

the minor advantages one console has over the other is lost again in some other minor way and so it goes ad infinitum

Erm. Used to to the batteries? Not sure what you mean?
R800 p/m? More like R99 a month. And even much cheaper if you use the XBL trick to buy several years.

This:

Seriously, even with MS' Bethesda + friends acquisition, you can't compare the exclusives. Polished titles like GoW, Uncharted and TLOU, and probably H:ZD vs the jank-fests that Bethesda have churned out over the years?

Of course Doom is another story, but I wouldn't ever play something like that with a controller.

Demons Souls!

The only real loss when going PS5-only are the Obsidian and inXile games.

Oh, that and the fact that I have become a proper PC gamer since I got married and have to play my console games in my study. Why use a console when your PC is only 2m away? (Hint: Consoles are only there for the games not available on PC)

The current Sony exclusives never really got me going, I usually ended up trading in those exclusives in at my local BT games anyway.

I found the MS exclusives had more replay value and even online : Halo Campaign / Gears online with a couple of my friends.

- Granddad of war was pretty, played it once and then traded it in
- Uncharted was pretty but again wasted 1k for a game I played once
- Souls franchise was never appealing to me, I prefer more western RPG's

Spider man was the only one I played a few times to get all those suit's and unlocks, which I sold to a friend with a PS4 pro :)

You gonna eat your words, padawan. And look on with envy as we replace our panels with glorious custom-made art that will make you weep at the bland rectangle sitting in your room :)

PS - did you see that spider man mock-up for the side panels?

Hahahahaha
The NOOBS that worry about "looks"

At work we have one of em Rolands VersaUV's + loads of colored Vinyl, I can have a different themed console every weekend :D
And if I want a different design or shaped box I can just Lasercut/Route my own as well...

Naa I'm happy with the square box that wont waste space.

Ah Those exclusives. Halo 1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . Gears of War 1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . Lol!

Come now .. play nice now :)

Halo was the best split screen multiplayer I have ever had in my life :)

Gears of war was legendary and you know this RazedInBlack ... I think your too scared to admit it because you have to uphold that " YOLOomfgPS12345FOeLIFE " attitude ...

I forgive you ;)

Haha that's one space where the PS definitely wins in my opinion.

PS4 vs XBox One, the PS exclusives are much better. I'm not a big fan of Halo even though I played all of them. Gears is good but not amazing. It's the one area where I really hope Microsoft can catch up and I hope this will happen with all the studios they acquired.

I Liked the first Gears and maybe the 2nd, but jeez after that became a freaking joke money making ( dare I say it God of war franchise ) business ;)

I played the first Halo and Gears on PC, but grew bored with them very quickly. I think I played less than 4 hours of each.

I play 99.9% of games only once, but I did end up getting the platinum in God of War. The only game for which I did. God of War 3 I played twice. I didn't mean to, it just happened.
God of War Ascension was meh, with the "different" weapons just applying different effects. I think I stopped around half way through.
The Uncharted games are perfect for that single playthrough of about 30 hours. I think they offer decent value at R1000, considering I really enjoy those 30 hours. If like me you want to play a fully patched game and get it a year or so later, the R450 price is even better ;)

When you are a 40 year old gamer, time is more of a limiting factor than money. I like my games relatively short and perfectly paced, and don't care for open worlds full of busywork, grinding, collectables and unlocks.

GoW was somehow the exception, and I actually enjoyed running that stupid gauntlet to get all the unlocks to beat that final Valkyrie. Then I just put in an extra hour with a walkthrough to get the stupid ravens, as I was so close to the platinum.

Good western RPGs are also great, but the Bethesda games have never really grabbed me. I played all the ES games from Daggerfall onward, but the first one that kinda grabbed me was Skyrim, but stopped playing before finishing. That enemy scaling BS put me off the game completely. Once you get glass armour or whatever, every common thief in the game has this legendary, super rare armour.

Fallout 3 left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was so looking forward to Fallout 3, and they gave us that POS Elder Scrolls reskin. I made it to the radio station before the boredom overwhelmed me and I just couldn't continue any more.
Wasteland 2 & 3, D:OS2 and Witcher 3 are more my type of great western RPG. Even Pillars of Eternity was pretty good, and I still need to give the second one a go.

Well like your article says:
" On paper, the Xbox Series X GPU should be significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 5 "

So yes, on paper it's significantly more powerful. From what we know so far, the XBox Series X is the most powerful console. The article states that there "may be room for the PlayStation 5 to be closer on the Xbox’s heels than anticipated." but that still means it's behind the XBox. Heels are at the back.

All of it is still based on expectations. You made it out that the XBSX being significantly more powerful is a sure thing. It is not.
I predict that this generation, the PS5 exclusives will again look better than anything available on XBox.

AA batteries in a controller, what's that about?
My bad I thought gamepass was more expensive. R99 is nothing. I bought a few years worth of PS+. I dont know how much it is either....goes to show

I do envy the Spiderman panels.

But what i don't envy are the mischievous things VoodooBean and Serpent are going to do to you at the bottom of that pile ;)

At the price of controllers it much cheaper to quickly swop batteries in order to play than buy another controller to use while your 1st controller is wasting time on the charger...
But to each their own. I do get it that some peepz prefer the charging controller as opposed to just get rechargeable batteries.

It looks nice, I like the colours and symbol but that ..... errrr ... shape of the console just doesn't do it for me.

I will always say this: I would be more worried the thing tilts over and breaks into mini pieces :)
