This is rather amusing considering it's the console with the most issues, not to mention disabled features etc.
I mean I don't even recall a single Xbox failure in this thread since launch? PS5's are falling over all over the place and if they aren't doing that then they are massively annoying with coil whine etc.
You must be living under a rock! That or just willful ignorance on your part.
Xbox Series X Hit By Several Launch Bugs
Microsoft has warned Xbox Series X and S owners of a host of bugs with the new consoles, which are due to launch tomorrow.
The bugs include:
- Problems with Blu-ray and DVD playback
- Compatibility issues with selected 4K televisions
- Failure to launch the EA Play app
- Incompatibility with TV apps such as the BBC iPlayer and PeacockTV
- Issues with the new Quick Resume games feature
DVD/Blu-ray playback
The most notable bug appears to be the one affecting DVD/Blu-ray playback. Microsoft warns that console owners who put in a DVD/Blu-ray may be confronted with nothing more than a black screen.
Customers who see this bug are advised to remove the disc, restart the console and re-insert the disc again to make the problem go away.
4K television issues
There are bigger problems for players who are planning to connect their Xbox Series X console to a high-end 4K/120Hz television that supports variable refresh rates. Microsoft warns that such users “might encounter no signal or corrupted image”. The fault occurs with televisions from companies including LG, Samsung and Vizio.
Microsoft is advising customers to make sure they’ve downloaded the latest firmware for their television to resolve the problem. A list of download sites is provided on Microsoft’s support page.

Other workarounds include dropping the refresh rate to 60Hz or switching off the variable refresh rate, the procedures for which are again outlined on the support page.

Not living under a rock at all, those are comparatively minor issues quickly resolved, none of which required the hardware being physically returned to the manufacturer to resolve.
Also the PS5 doesn't even support VRR, otherwise it would have the same issues at the TV side....because the issues were with the TV's not the consoles.
On the flipside the bloody PS5 can't even use external hard drives without having a **** and then simple features are disabled or greyed out in the menus.
Turn your fan boy off for just a moment and you can surely agree the PS5 was rushed out the door to make it to market and really isn't in a good state? Don't need to compare it to the Xbox, just in isolation it's really a pretty questionable launch.
My external drive works just fine on my PS5, that and I honestly have no issues with the PS5.
. . . and no, I certainly do not agree that the console was rushed to make it to market. Sony has been at this a long time so why would they rush it? That is your opinion which I suspect is a personal one but you are entitled to one none-the-less.
BTW, did you get yourself a Series X? If so, how has the experience been so far?
I've had my XSX for 2 weeks and it's been on quite a lot. The setup process was easy, the packaging was really good as well. Can you put PS5 games on your external? Can you use Rest Mode with your PS4 games?
Can you add additional storage in the SSD slot? Or didn’t someone disable that from use?
I did get a Series X and it’s been flawless.
The packaging for one was fantastic compared to the cheap as chips McDonald’s card board the PS5 shipped in and the onboard process with App makes it a near instant process to get going if you ignore the internet speed restricted things of course.
XSX is so quiet I wouldn’t know it’s on if it wasn’t for the air coming out the top.
My only annoyance still, especially now that it has HDMI-CEC is that it doesn’t bloody mute the external sound when you start using a headset like the PS4 (and presumably PS5 does).
No problems with any crashing or things not starting, apart from Grounded but that’s expected as a pre-release title.
Forza Horizon 4 and Ori are both somehow even more breathtaking than before and the new games like Fenix Rising I got are superb.
Cyberpunk has had some laughable visual glitches but runs fine, however I’ve parked it for now in favour of playing Fenix.

No you cannot put PS5 games on an external drive. Not sure what you mean by "Rest Mode with your PS4 games" but you're referring to Quick Resume?
The SSD slot has been disabled yes but it not that big of a deal, at some point it will be enabled, I'm just concerned about the price of these SSDs when they eventually do reach the shelf.
I can agree with packaging yes, good and firmly boxed unit. I admire that about MS.
PS5 is just as quiet, hardly know its there, I've honestly had no issues so far other than game installs disappearing (happened twice) but after the system software update I haven't had that issue again.
Glad you enjoying your console man!![]()

I only had one issue when my downloads were slow for the first week. Now it's up and running.
So far even older games like Just Cause 3 and Far cry 4 run buttery smooth. BF5 looks great and runs smooth as well

There are just as many ways to overcome this as there are ways to implement.
Problem is, there is no financial incentive for the retailer to pursue or curb any of them. A sale is a sale is a sale, and implementing any measure to split bot from human is a cost that the retailer has to carry so they will do nothing.
So you have two options, increase supply or let government add a cost (Law) for the retailer to limit in order to prevent scalping else nothing will change.
There is a difference between wishful thinking and guaranteed income for example, retailer wont see a cent on game sales from Digital editions.I mentioned previously what the financial incentives should be for a retailer. Again, focus, dude, focus!

I would even go so far as saying future sales leading from a console sale falls under broken window fallacy as the client can just as easy go and buy accessories or games for that matter at a competing store.
I still think government should play a role, same as what they do with ticket scalpers. Cause there is not enough incentive for a shop keeper to pay developers to change or even redesign web-front to prevent scalping.

Sony commits to supporting the PS4 longer than it did the PS3
In an interview in the December issue of Edge Magazine, Ryan admitted that the transition from the PS3 to the PS4 was rather abrupt. He added that...www.techspot.com

But yet we both know it's the disc versions that have made the most sales. Focus, dude.
As for your strange "broken window" story, we both know that all "competing" stores have sold out. Focus, dude.
Seems like you the one not focusing?
They sold their stock.... so they made their money.. why should they care?
