One thing I know scalping is helping its Microsoft. I know personally of at least 4 PlayStation owners that bought Xbox Series systems because they could not get their hands on PS5's. 1 of those never owned a Xbox before in his life.

FOMO is a strange beast :D
So what you basically saying is that most people want a PS5 because they know its the better choice. But because they cant get it they go Xbox as second prize?
We have already seen how people are selling their 2 week old Xboxes, so this will continue to increase once all your internet friends can finally get a PS5.
Bad news for Xbox secondhand value.

The best part of this thread for me is looking back at how many times Xbox fanboys told us they preferred the 2xAA batteries, but everyone buying an Xbox then buy battery packs for R500 extra :D

The best part of this thread is all the ponies, who don't want backwards combability, but love to fork out for a remaster of an older game...

Now Bethesda's and Rockstar's business model make sense... keep releasing the same game again and again and again and people will keep buy it for a new system

When the PS5 controllers don't hold their charges anymore you have to buy a new controller.

With the battery packs I can switch between them while I play and should they give problems in the future I can just replace the battery pack.

You can also use rechargeable batteries if you like which is something that a lot of people have already.

The internal batteries in the dual shock last very long and I suspect the same for the dual sense. Replacing the batteries is also entirely feasible and there is no reason to throw out a perfectly good controller just because its battery is dead.

My apologies. I didn't realise they can be replaced. I just remembered this article:

"As batteries are used, they degrade; each charge cycle does a little damage that lowers its total capacity. That’s just a fact of science, and something we’re all used to in phones, laptops and controllers. Batteries even degrade when not in use – battery expert company Cadex Electronics say that a charged lithium-ion battery will lose around 20% of its total capacity if left in storage for around a year. Which makes me wonder: if the DualSense battery is so on the short side when used full-pelt by Astro’s Playroom at launch, how’s it going to perform in a few years after spending plenty of time idling and going through many charge cycles? I really hope the degradation is better than my experience with DualShock 4 controllers.

In this, I actually wonder if replaceable batteries are actually better – at least then even if you buy rechargeables they can be more easily replaced once degraded. For now, however, the DualSense is absolutely my favourite piece of new-generation console hardware – I just hope that battery holds up in a few years’ time."

Opening the Dualsense is a bit trickier than the Dualshock but there are videos online showing exactly how to to do it. The batteries should also be readily available once adoption of the PS5 becomes more common (you can find the replacement batteries for the Dualshock on Takealot).

Making the batteries easier to replace would be welcome but I suspect it is done this way to keep costs down.

LOL It is very easy and cheap to replace PS batteries. You can replace the 1000mah battery on the Dualshock 4 for double the size 2000mah for under R200.
But you probably never need to do that, hell my kids original PS3 controller still holds a charge for hours on original battery, I bought that Ps3 before I even had kids.

It has a 1500mah battery, but those triggers look like a likely failure point. Yesterday I saw this article on my Google feed and ignored it.

After seeing that video I'm going to give it a read now.

Again with the kids and their ancient PlayStations. Why then are you in this thread and not your kids? Maybe you should bring them along and start a PS3/4 thread and you guys can chat to each other there...

I have a Series X and I'm in a Series X thread.

Go play Fortnite with your daughter. You on your ancient PC and she on her ancient PS.

Maybe in 6 years time when you scraped together enough change to buy your daughter a PS5 you can get her to come post in here. By then we'll have moved on to the PS6 vs. Xbox Series Y thread...

LOL Mickey we have all seen your furniture, we can see your class. I can buy my kids whatever they like, but only when I feel the time is right and they have earned it. They should know what life is about, otherwise the end up like you with old shoddy furniture but a new console to brag too fake internet friends with.

Would rather use furniture inherited from my grandpa than spend my Xbox money on a freakin’ TV stand. Talk about selling your car for petrol money, damduiker
Yes that is exactly what I don't want my kids to be. But I knew you would not understand, as they say, you cant buy class. We had the IQ study posted here after all.
Its like our first house we bought just after we finished studying. Townhouse for about 200k those years, me and the wife was still driving our old f upped student cars, but our neighbor was older and driving a fancy SUV that probably cost double his townhouse. I just could not understand how you can obviously afford such a expensive car but buy a cheap house. Then I remembered some people care what others think and their shiny car(console) is an extension of their (lack off) personality.
But I see this every day as I work at people houses. Small flat they rent with almost no furniture, duvets covering the windows, but the 60" 4k tv is there.
But whatever floats your boat. I wanted to say don't worry you will mature one day, but from experience I know some people never.

PS Mods, before you get itchy, please just read who started the personal attacks here. I don't report their posts as I could not care less, but I know here are people floating around that want to give, but cant take.

Your posts are proof of that.

As for the rest of it, we don't care about how you moved from the trailer park to Brakpan to wherever you are now. Your TV cabinet must have been your first major purchase hence the reason you keep bringing it up.

If you put as much effort into your work as you do posting here, you might be able to afford a PS5...
