ONE MORE THING

Apple had haptic feedback for iOS back in 2016, who wants to bet that is where Sony got the idea? You think the Sony execs don’t use iPhones?

Tactile haptic feedback is common in cellular devices. In most cases, this takes the form of vibration response to touch. Alpine Electronics uses a haptic feedback technology named PulseTouch on many of their touch-screen car navigation and stereo units.[47] The Nexus One features haptic feedback, according to their specifications.[48] Samsung first launched a phone with haptics in 2007.[49]

Haptic feedback just refers to vibrations and forces. Technically the first controller with rumble already had haptic feedback. I think the technology now just got accurate enough, small enough and affordable enough to take it a step further.
As with every new console technology, the question will always be whether it will be something that people really want, like two joysticks, HD, HDR and virtual surround sound, or will it be a gimmick that you spend millions developing and it just fades away, like 3D, touchpad and motion controls?

Technically, yes, but I think we need a way to distinguish between a controller that simply rumbles/vibrates in sync with something happening on-screen and feedback that’s actually attempting to simulate the feel of a specific physical interaction. An LED power indicator light and a display are overlapping technology but I mean, bundling them up together is silly.

Actually now that you mention it - I had a Sony Ericsson phone back in 2009 that was pretty advanced in that department. I see your point.

My Motorola RAZR V3 had haptic feedback back in 2007, its nothing new or stolen for that matter its like saying someone stole the idea of a wheel.

Funny enough as I did in the past I still do today... I turn that and the rumble crap off ASAP. I'm not saying its no good or bad tech, I just prefer to play games without it. For me if something in my hands vibrate while I play it pulls me out of the immersion, donno why.

That said I would say, if Microsoft Elite controller had adaptive triggers and the other jazz it would help PlayStation users more that Xbox users. 3rd party dev's see the added "tech" as a hurdle or something to add after the game is done. If all consoles had the tech they would be more inclined to support it. <-- Personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Side Note: I also turn game music off before I even enter the game.... I know for some it enhances the "mood" I just prefer to play without it, as in vibrating, it pulls me out of the immersion.

Whats to argue about...just get both ecosystems.

And if you smart about it you can for almost the same price as early adopters in SA paid for a single PS5.

Buy a Xbox Series S now (Was R6100 Netbank Avo app) then play that till the PS5 stock situation improves overseas. When that happens buy a PS5 DE in da US for about R6200 (Current exchange) and get a friend to bring it over for you. (If said friend is coming over in say August)

R12300 and you have best of both worlds laughing your a$$ off at the noobs fighting over which eco system is better. ;)

Here we go again...

Let's ignore the fantasy island setting of a friend coming over in August with a DE edition at current exchange rates. And I think that the $399 excludes each states specific taxes?

So lets focus on what you really said. Get a cheap XBSS for the meantime. To play lots of budget games at what is a budget resolution.

But actually wait to get the real gem that is the PS5 (DE or otherwise).

So, if you were going to spend R12300 regardless, if you truly believed the XBSX was the best, you would just splash the cash out on it now regardless.

This noob laughs his ass off at your strange economics.

I would probably buy a PS5 after a few revisions. Not in much of a hurry for one atm. My PC can pretty much mull me over so no need for an xbox. I'd have gone the Xbox route if my pc wasn't capable though. Game Pass for the win

I tell you what - unless your PC monitor can do HDR, you have no idea what you missing out on.
