PSB Promo SIM Cards now roam on MTN

Remember back in the day when we wanted to opt in for the Go big 120 GIG(60gig+60gig) our sim cards had to be provision to only work on the TELKOM Mobile Network Strictly, roaming wasn't allowed. Look and behold this morning wake up and noticed my Data Symbol doesn't show H+/HSPDA/EDGE/ displays R. Then discovered I was roaming on MTN network. Received a couple of CB(Cell Broadcast message). Had to force my phone to use the right mobile network!!

How come did Telkom now open the sim card for roaming wasn't like this previously. Afraid all my airtime will be depleted. I had peace of mind not getting a bill shocker but now with this open, have to see that my sim card is registered correctly to the right network.

AFAIK TM and MTN signed a roaming agreement a week or two back allowing their subs to roam on each others networks with 3G en alles!

There is still no clarity - if Telkom Mobile Network only users will be able to roam with promotions like Go Big 120(60 gig + 60 gig) on MTN network. .

Would be nice to get transparent clarity from TM REP.

I checked this morning, my old PSB Promo SIM is unable to roam MTN, no changes. I don't think it will change, as no-roaming setup is permanently stored on the SIM (this is as I was told).
Re: Enabling MTN roaming for current Promo on-net bundle packages: It can change anytime, depends what TM plan to do.

Trying again on old PSB promo card, yes, something has changed!
When doing manual network selection MTN shows 'forbidden', but it is memorized, not a current value. Select MTN and it succeeded! Now coming back to this menu, MTN shows 'allowed'.

Note that roaming mechanism is different: I test it now on the old Handspring Treo 180 phone. This phone requires carrier update (like iPhone). I didn't do carrier update and phone is unable to recognize and register to TM network. On new (roaming SIM) it registers to MTN, while PSB Promo SIM is rejected as invalid.

Data is no subtracting from PSB promo sim card when roaming on MTN... Either I am just fortunate enough that my profile/sim card has been changed to allow this.

Correct! Numerous CB message I receiving will have to check on my smartphone how to disable CB messages.

You cannot roam on MTN with the 60GB + 60GB promo. You can only purchase the All Net bundles to work in areas where there isn't any Telkom Mobile coverage.
