I gave it up for a Verizon a/c after seeing how nice unshaped was...
Pity - they have a nice news server and you get up to 30gb to use with it. I've often considered just getting a IS account for that alone. Probably will do so when they discontinue the UUNET accounts.

Verison is just too pricey for me.

Openweb is planning to release local only IS accounts. My guess is it'll be 30 gigs at around R100 or possibly less (makes the most sense if you deduct the international portion). Not a bad deal at all if you want to make use of the news servers.

Verizon = uunet.
You have one of those uncapped ones I guess... No more of that unfortunately!

Thanks for that heads up!

Getting a mac mini for my lounge which will free up my old powerbook (currently being used as a media centre) so I can make use of that.

Yeah I'm speculating on the exact pricing details, but they definitely are announcing the local only accounts soon.

If we look at the 2GB/28GB IS account for about R200, subtract the international portion at about R50/gig, that leaves us with 30GB local for R100. Well that's what I figured it should come to.
