Being critical of how this government/committee is handling the 2010 thing is NOT indicative of a lack of national pride or a lack of support. It is rather a case of trying to make sure that it does work out ok. The only way things work properly in SA is if there is constant scutiny and a lots of fires being lit under fat, lazy, gravy train riding arses.

As far as the second point is concerned, the majority of the population is fed a steady diet of SABC propaganda.

Well if that was the case then the majority of the population would never have had risen up against Apartheid considering the propaganda that the Nats had the SABC feed us all in those days.

To assume that we are somehow smarter then the rest because we have the internets in our home and are better off is a rather dangerous assumption to make.

Fortunately during those days there were other people that did inform the majority, the need to be informed was also much more obvious, I think now that we have democracy etc. its easy to become complacent. I'd agree with your second statement but smarter and more informed are rather different things, smarter suggests inherent ability which I wasn't referring to, more informed just more access to information which unfortunately due to the telecoms environment here is fairly strongly linked to economic status.

I have national pride, perhaps that is why I am so critical of how I see the organising and preperations of WC 2010. I feel the country is going to be turned into a laughing stock. I am also worried that if that doesn't happen, any of the solutions that are put in place will not be the long term type of solutions that need to be put in place.

The World Cup is a massive undertaking, and can be used to push through many other very important changes. It is a chance for this country to fix many of the ills that the world and its own citizens see. I just feel that it won't happen that way and it will not be used for any long term positive change.

What? The majority of the population didn't rise up. If they did then Apartheid would've ended years before.

How we went from a poll to apartheid propaganda is a long short walk.

Propaganda must have been good: seeing as it took the anc (and the people) a hundred years "to rise up".

Pleaze.
