Like medieval royalty, Mkhwebane also claimed she had been appointed by a higher power, not parliament, to her position.
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been slammed after she made claims in a speech to the SA Sheriff’s Society in Mpumalanga on Friday night, that she was placed in her position by God and that only God can remove her. The speech was live-tweeted on the account @PublicProtector, bringing it to the attention of the public.
In the speech which started off in congratulation to newly appointed sheriffs, Mkhwebane became increasingly vitriolic, claiming she had been subject to “the most unfair reporting in the media” and never received a “right of reply” on stories about her.
Seemingly addressing a specific incident, Mkwebane claimed her comments are often ignored for “word count considerations!!!”.

Wonder why the dirty Zupta mattress doesn't investigate those implicated in the hostage and assault of Symington?

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane said her office was facing its most testing time yet and was under attack.
Speaking at a South African Sheriff Society gathering on Friday night, Mkhwebane lashed out at her critics claiming was poisoned and threatened with arrest for money laundering since the institution began investigating the South African Revenue Service rogue unit case.

First we had PP Thuli representing the public interest fight against the Zupta patronage, now we got the PP Busisiwe harassing the non-Zupta's. Musical chairs role reversal, it's going to be a slamdunk for Zupta if they manage to recall Cyril and put Ace or some other Zupta appointee.

He has no such powers.

She needs to be found guilty of misconduct, incapacity or incompetence by a portfolio committee, followed by the adoption of a resolution by two-thirds of the National Assembly to remove her.

Former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela says it’s not fair for some political parties to keep calling for the current public protector to vacate office. This follows the DA’s call to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Thandi Modise to facilitate a process that will see Busisiwe Mkhwebane removed.

Madonsela says people should not be judged solely on the basis of the mistakes they’ve made

“People should understand that people may make mistakes while in office but some excel in some ways. And I wouldn’t say it’s proper to keep calling for people to vacate office when they make mistakes. If of course they’ve done anything more than making mistakes, then that would make sense.”
