God, and Parliament, moves slowly:
It’s procedurally complicated. Following a complaint motion, once approved by the speaker, political parties nominate candidates for a three-person independent panel that is the first stage of a two-stage removal procedure under the parliamentary rule Removal of Office Bearers in Institutions Supporting Constitutional Democracy. Adopted in early December 2019, the rule sets out a 17-step process that may end in the constitutionally required two-thirds vote in the House to remove a Public Protector.

She's up to something. Stalling is pointless as the charges won't be withdrawn & the high court won't oblige her so she's biding time for something else to happen maybe.

Mpofu said a two months postponement should be sufficient to take care of those matters.
She's also on a two month sabatical.

Just my spidey senses...

Independent panel's report on public protector is with Thandi Modise (sowetanlive.co.za)

The independent panel set up to assess if there is prima facie evidence indicating that Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane committed misconduct, was incapacitated or was incompetent has handed its report to National Assembly speaker Thandi Modise.

The panel — comprised of retired Constitutional Court judge Bess Nkabinde, advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza and advocate Johan de Waal — was appointed after a DA motion to have Mkhwebane removed from office.

Parliament said in a statement on Thursday evening that the “panel has since completed its work and submitted its report to the speaker ... The report will be made available in the week of March 1.”

I doubt there's a chance the report will be in any way positive about her, so it's should now be a question of if parliament can agree to remove her.

In the end it does come down to a vote and how the ANC instruct their MPs to vote. The EFF will not vote for removal. So, it'd be just the ANC and DA. Mostly those two.

At the rate they are carrying on she might just serve out her term, she doesn't have long to go.

I don't think there's anything they could have done, it's a process and the problem with process is they should be allowed to run their cause, unless if the idea is to give her ammunition to successfully challenge her removal in court.
