Public Protector employees had to address suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane as "madam" and bow down to her, as more testimony about a culture of fear during Mkwhebane's reign was heard by the Section 194 Committee.

Former Public Protector chief operating officer Basani Baloyi testified to the committee – which has to determine whether Mkhwebane is fit for office – on Monday.

"The PP's leadership style was authoritarian. She must be addressed as 'madam'. She must be bowed down to, quite literally," reads Baloyi's affidavit to the committee. She added that staff also had to stand up when Mkhwebane entered a room.

Baloyi perceived this as an exercise of power and found it most unusual.

Jokes aside, I would expect some sort of similar decorum amongst those seniors at the PP office. In my view she was absolutely right, it doesn't seem as if the management knows how to be act appropriately. In my view, she was basically advising them on correct manners, I doubt she threatened them, only those detest authority would see a problem here. They are not at her house having a braai.

90% I do a half stand from my seat for anyone attending a meeting or a nod as a greeting in any meeting if a hand shake is not possible, standard practise. BTW many of the PP senoir staff are advocates and should understand.

And ofcourse it her right to be called whatever "madam/ms/mrs (etc)

And it is either a white lie or a deliberate to say that they had to bow down, I'm 99% sure she requested a nod.

"She must be bowed down to, quite literally" - LOL A clear obvious and LIE .... or he doesnt understand what he's saying.

I dont like the woman, but what I hate more is scum that lies outrightly to settle old scores. If you believe this guy, this what you imagine happened:

EDIT: This is how the good Advocate believes is the right way to present himself to parliament and the world, lying on his bed/floor with a pillow to prop him up, or maybe he has wings?

Dude, really??? LOL Nobody bows down to the President of the country, but somehow advocates and senior managers would always bow down to the PP, does that sound logical to you? Anyway, the advocate already admitted this was standard practice even before B.M came into office apparently (standing in her entrance). Also, it must be added that he said that he never wrote the affidavit but that it was written by the evidence leaders and he only read it and signed, it is his affidavit, which he admitted was false.

LMAO lets just say its true that from the security guard to the executive had to bow down to B.M, can you with a straight face tell me that you believe that? What the hell????? LOL How can you fall for that? Already yesterday, a witness told parliament that it was a lie that that they had to bow down to her, the man himself said that it is not absolutely true (see below) how naive can you be for goverment lies?? The senior manager mentioned that it was standard practise for attendee's stand whenever the PP enters even under Thuli Madonsela. LITERALLY BOW DOWN really, thats what you believe "literally", BM would ask everybody to bow down to her wherever she is????

Hlaudi Motsoeneng is that you

As one of the most trusted persons in America said "You dont have a law degree, to determine what happened here, this is why im here" You nor Hlaudi Motsoeneng has a law degree. Absolutly laughable that you would believe that BM commanded that people bow down to her at sight and people did that. I wonder who else in your circles would believe that, its crazy, absolutly!! LMAO ... Reason and probabilities dont exist in your mind, hatred for an individual succeeds the balance of truth reason. I repeat it I dont like the woman, but its pretty clear here that we not been told the truth.

BOW down to the PP..... Its really laughable that you would believe that, you totally believe that????? LMAO, anyway continue to believe that, I cant convince you, Im sorry

You must be the popular one at work.

At home, I teach good decorum and politeness to my children and honesty. At work I might not the most popular one and I dont even try at all, but I pay hundreds of peoples salaries a month due to discipline and ethics. I run a tight ship, my businesses are not trade unions based on popularity or a democracy actually. If greeting via a nod, hand shake, smile or half a stand is two much for you you best going to work at Luthuli house, you will be free to bow down to your knees to whichever elected official you want there.

If you want me to believe that people "literally" bow down to a mere human at the PP office, I know its pretty much lies.:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

The heading was incorrect. The effect stays the same.

She expected people to rise (stand), every time she entered a room. Not in meeting rooms, at ANY time. So if she walked through the lobby 10 times a day, everyone in the lobby must stand as she enters the room, 10 times a day.

Would you regard this as 'normal decorum'?
