The principal asked police to take the phones because a) they won't all fit in the school safe, and b) it would be unsafe to keep that many phones lying around at the scool.

Again, police didn't steal anything.
Phones should never have been included in the search in the first place.

Removal of personal possesions without consent is theft.

SAPS: After this thorough search we are taking the drugs and the phones which, for a small fee, will be available to you down at the station.

Pupils: The phones or the drugs?

SAPS: Yes.

SAPS: We will however leave you with your lighters and matches because these are normal items to have at school and we trust you to be civilized.

“When the police left, the pupils thought the teachers were soft targets, and then they torched the school building,” Mahlambi said.

Wrong. It's the brain dead behavior on display that you seem okay with. Ergo, your mates.
It's brain dead behavior in a brain dead system with brain dead people not giving a **** about these kids, which people are ignoring. Talk about a privileged dude.

Why don't you show us what's in your pocket today for some excitement? Let me guess, it's a pink iphone again ain't it? So edgy.

Wonder who they are liberating themselves from this time? Themselves? Their futures? Oh wait.. they already threw away their futures when they aligned themselves with the ANC.

This is actually just usual behavior, go read up how many schools were broken into, vandalized & burned during lockdown. Hint: thousands..

This is learned behavior, no consequences for your actions, that they learn from their parents and their elders.
Then everybody cries when Africa comes stone last in the world. Poor us, just look at how we're suffering..

I'm not defending them
You have a very weird way of going about it then. I haven't seen you condemn their actions once yet. In every post you appear to be attempting to justify their actions.

I'm saying they never burnt down a school, they burnt down a useless daycare center, a mini Hillbrow.
Doesn't really matter. They still burnt a building down.

That's like saying "they never murdered a child, just a woman". It's still murder. Nothing else matters other than maybe to determine length of the sentence.

I'm not sure what you want me to do about it.

Very sensitive over a building you didn't know existed a day ago? ;) is this the latest phase of snowflakery?
I imagine people are "sensitive" because it's their tax money being burnt.

That we're not omniscient, and therefore don't know at any one time where every cent of that tax money goes is, as is seemingly usual here, irrelevant.

I haven't seen you defend these kids either, which is why I asked you which percentage we hold responsible? You and your thumb-suck answer showed that you either don't know, or you genuinely don't care what the kids go through. I don't support burning of infrastructure but I also put kids about buildings, so you can't treat kids like **** for so long and expect nothing to happen.

Who cares? Whether they burnt a building down or not, you wouldn't give a **** regardless. True or false?

No, a better comparison is like crying about them murdering a father when they murdered a thieving crook. Everyone buthurt over the school, wouldn't have sent their own kids there, even as a last resort - but because it has the "school" label attached to it, suddenly it evoked feelings in people

I am having discussions with different people based on different posting history - how does having an opinion over an issue relate to them being "my mates" - very subjective what you reply to?
