Hi,

I'm planning on purchasing a laptop in the USA. Can anyone recommend a brand (and specific line) who offer international warranties covered in South Africa?

HP... and they allow you to buy a one year or two year worldwide warranty at the time of purchase.

Buy a Panasonic Toughbook (aka Let's Note) CY-F7 or the new F8 range of
business toughbooks. You won't need a warranty because they don't break :),
but they're darn expensive though, cost more than Macbook Pros and Vaios
with much better specs. So no 3D gaming but a real man's laptop though
and a build quality like no other laptop on the market.

From what I've seen the Toughbook has like last years specs... but yeah, it doesn't break. The US military uses it, as does a lot of people in the industry (engineering in the field, mining, etc).
A 13" core2duo 1.6 with 1GB RAM... last I saw, R35000...
