Hi all, my white unibody macbook could do with an upgrade. Been keen on the ''old'' mb pro for sometime and now that it has been replaced by new models it has dropped in price making it appealing. . .

There is quite a difference between the pro R13 000 and the new new pro at R20 000 +-. . .

Now I can't afford the new model, in fact even if I could im not sure I want to drop R20k on a laptop lol. . .

For R13 000 the ''old'' mbp seems like a pretty good deal, even though its thicker and isn't retina. Id probably stick a SSD in it and possibly remove the cddrive and put a extra HDD.

Anyone else recently bought one and whats your feelings on buying ''old'' models?

Old macs are awesome. I bought MBA and I love it.

An ex colleague bought the same one you are interested in and did the same - installed an SSD, removed CD drive and inserted a 2nd HDD.

He's loving it.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Never seen a MBP with a SSD but im sure its impressive.

Its a pity the new mb's are not up-gradable. . .. at all. Not even ram apparently.
