PVR or Dualview/Tivo

Time to start replacing some hardware
Current situation and preferences
1. I already have a LG HDD recorder (250GB).
2. I already have a dual LNB, 1 for normal multichoice and the other 1 free (used to be Sat Internet)
3. I'd prefer to get the normal Dualview and rather use the difference between this one and the PVR version (about R1000 I think) towards a TiVo solution
4. TiVo solution to be networked and HDD upgraded obviously
5. Wireless PC network already in place (Linksys WRT54G Router and Linksys USB wireless nics)

Any comments on these points ?

Questions
1. Will I need to get another AP to link the Tivo to the existing network or just another "thing" to plug into the nic on the TiVo ? If the latter, what "thing" ?
2. Any problems using the LG / TiVo combo ?
3. Any other potential issues I need to be aware of ?

I'll check out the TiVO site (again) for more detail, but would appreciate comments/advice in the meantime. More questions might follow

You will need a wireless bridge to connect your tivo to the router.
Take a look at http://tivoza.nanfo.com/wiki/index.php/Connectivity

BTW, I recently got a tivo. It is mindblowing. Much better than the PVR in almost all repects
Thanks, I suppose that takes care of Q1. Would probably go for another Linksys, although it's not listed as a preferred device. Will clarify with the TiVo guys. Think the current one is using WPA, need to check on that

As JStrike mentioned, the Connectivity guide provides all the different networking options (wired and wireless). The suggested AP's are based more on price then preference, Linksys make a very good AP but at R727 it's quite a bit more then the SMC (R476) or Netgear (R508).

No problems, you would connect the TiVo to your DSTV decoder and then connect the LG DVD recorder to one of the two TiVo outputs. You would then either connect both the LG and the TiVo to your TV or just connect the LG to the TV with the TiVo selected as input on the LG.

How much does a dual view decoder and sat + install go for nowadays?

Makro sells the dual view decoder for R1999, they charge R1299 for the Dish, dual LNB and installation. The price they offer is pretty much standard, if you watch the papers for specials you may be able to save R200 - R300.

HiFi corp often sell the DualView for R1799 but there installers don't have the best record. A better bet is to take a quote from HiFi corp to Game, Game promises to beat any price plus give you an extra 10% of the difference so you'd save R220 going that route :D
