So for all the Q6600 owners on here: what CPU cooling do you use and what are the postives and negatives?

Thanks.

Edit: Just wanted to add: what is the noise level like?

Stock cooling currently...

Positive: Can handle a 3GHz overclock no problem
Negative: Stock cooling, need I say more...

:D

Thermalright ultima 90(but haven't fitted it yet. Awesome cooler though! Best probably except fot the thermalright ultra 120 extreme.
But you need to add an additional fan yourself.120mm or 92mm.

Thermalright Ultra 120 not extreme with Vantec Stealth 120mm fan, works like a charm and is near enough silent for me (oced to 3.0 idle 38 load high 50's depending on outside temp)

Stock cooling. No need for after market coolers if you plan to stay below 3.0GHz ;)

Why get something more expensive that is outperformed by something cheaper and lighter(ultima 90):p

So far the ultima-90 with a 120 fan seems to be the best bet. Still would like to get an idea about how loud the stock cooler is tho.

WKJ should know best about that. As far as the 120mm fan goes, then thats completely up to you what DBA fan you get or at what rpm you run it.

Just get yourself a Coolermaster Hyper Tx..... Its R194 at prophecy...Google it(im on local so cant show you links :p) and you will see its on par if not better than a Scyth Infinity which costs over R600

Not especially loud, but once the CPU starts really heating up the RPMs start going a lot higher and then it starts getting noticeable...

I can live with it, personally... :D

OK guys, I've got my new system, and it's as follows :

ASUS Striker 680i Mobo
Intel Q6600 CPU
Zalman CNPS9700L CPU Cooler
(Lol @2.4Ghz I'm at 25°C Idle and 34°C load)
I've got 4 x Hynix DDR2 800 RAM (5-5-5-12)
Aerocool Zero Degree Gaming Chassis (3x12cm , 1 x 22cm)

Now, will this RAM cope when I OC this system?
How far can I push it, and (@ people like Beanie that also have Striker Extreme's), can you give me a quick-quick tutor to do the OC?

Thanks guys?

Lekka man! btw how does the zalman perform? Did u bump up the system yet? I reckon u shud get @ least 3.4 with that cooler ;) and is it noisy? I had the cnps9700 (copper with blue led) very powerful but also quite noisy
