Quake3..reading low latency from some players????

Hi there

Just a quick one.

Lately I have noticed that on the Q3 mweb servers Im picking up particularly low latencies from certain players. They sometimes range as low as 0ms-11ms??

Is this due to a lot of tweaking??? If so I would like to know if this benefits the player at all and what settings are adjusted to do this. I get around 40-60ms on a 512k line and I know one or two of these low latency users are using 512k as well.

Well it could depend on your location. Some people might be a lot closer to the servers, it might simply be a CPT/JHB thing. If the servers are in Joburg people there would be marginally faster. But it seems to be a bit of a bigger difference..

They might also have uncapped accounts? Or they could be using SAIX whereas you possibly use IS? I assume you don't have to be an MWeb subscriber to use their gaming servers right?

Also some peoples connections are also just better, depend on line quality and their exchange.

There might also be tweaking through apps like Dr.TCP or TCP Optimizer etc.

Cool However I know one of them in particular stays in Durban North but I cant contact him to ask. He has a normal shaped 512k dsl so it may be tweaking involved.

I also use mweb at the moment as I didn't buy it, someone staying with us did. Im thinking of choosing another isp alltogether. But a low reading like that is highly uncommon in SA

Saw someone on the CS 1.6 servers with 0ms ping. Seen him before, guess he must just have a kick ass line

Yes Jac pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeezeeeeeeeeeee pleeeeeeeeeeeeezeeeee tell me how the hell mark gets such a low latency. I have a faint idea what may be possible but dont think its that.....could be......couldnt say for sure.

But if its tweaks I want them now!!!!!!!!

Naa its lies Jon, either way its CPMA and if you aim at the guy with a 300ping you will still hit.

That and he lives kinda close to the telkom exchange

Not if he bloody teleports into the next room !!! oh and now i have worse problems. Seems my connection fluctuates between 30ms and 400ms quite often and it makes me ... So I end up overtaking my own rockets and checking my rail shots from a side view matrix style
