Does anyone have info on the quality of Neotel service and connectivity in Pinelands, Cape Town? Having appalling experience with Telkom, and despite pathetic call centre service from Neotel I'm considering moving to Neotel (retaining only basic Telkom landline number). Thanks in advance!

Hi Mark,

Their are lots of reviews on Neotel services. Please tell us what you are interested in. Internet (basic) or (business/home) or voice. The service is exactly the same in all the major centers. The only difference is "How good is your signal/coverage". Neotel's coverage maps system is quirky to drive, and not 100% accurate, hence they won't even sell you a service if they think it will not work.

One the maps you can choose which service you are interested in.

Best is to try and get hold of a modem and test! Good luck.

Hi Sidewinder, thanks for your response. I'm looking at NeoBroadband wireless (retaining only basic Telkom voice line to keep phone number), the uncapped 4Mbps package - as a start. I've been in to a service centre and the consultant confirmed there is coverage for where I live. Where would I find reviews specifically related to Pinelands, Cape Town? Thanks again.

I tried Neotel at home many years ago. I reportedly had good signal, but the connection was up and down like a whores drawers. It was so unstable, I called to cancel within a couple of hours. I couldn't get ADSL at the time (hence trying Neotel), but ended up going with iBurst. It was a much better connection.
Some guys I know recently used a 4Mbps Neotel at their offices. They switched recently to ADSL and were amazed how much faster it was.

Unfortunately Neotel just hasn't seemed to deliver on any of their expectations. The only thing I would recommend it for is a basic phone line as the call costs are better than Telkom, but be prepared to be disappointed with their broadband service.

Im not sure about their wireless products but their fibre is awesome. Had it at the office for a few years.

Many years ago, Neotel did not have LTE service. I think it (LTE) was launched in Nov 2013. I agree, the CDMA service like a yo-yo, but i still prefer a yo-yo to a non existing ADSL, since Telkom refuse to replace stolen copper. This forum is full of success stories, as the service, if you get good coverage, is pretty stable and consistent.

Wireless internet simply problematic in Pinelands. Had 3 site surveys done (Neotel, Sprintnet, Sonic) and too many trees + power lines over railway all degrade wireless signals. Considering fibre now, very expensive option.
