<sarcasm>MARVELOUS! </sarcasm>
I've just been contacte by someone at sentech informing me that I am over my allocated 10GIG last month. I am on the 128 package!

He just wanted to inform me that if i want to continue to download a lot, i should upgrade. I almost laughed out load! I told him that there was no way i would upgrade to a higher package!

WTF! Never do they strive to better the service but the moment you actually get to download something, they call you to "check up" or "touch base"! This is nothing personal to the guy who called me because it is known that they watch the forum!

THEN: How could i have downloaded 10GIG?? My service disconnects everytime the damn wind blows! So i the past weekend my service was perminantly disconnected! This is so anal! I told the man that i would not upgrade and i sommer asked him if he knows about the **** with the multiple login on the same account (differant tower).

The slow network is blamed on abuse! Is this a valid claim? i don't know. I wanted to cancel then I was convinced to hold on!?!?

After all the blabbing:
-> Who also got a call from sentech concerning their monthly use?
-> How in the hell can I get that much if i'm not even online so much?

I was called. I explained to the caller that I use mostly local traffic. He could not care and went on about traffic managea\ment software or something. When I last checked, international traffic was the problem. Apparently Im 5GB over. This is crazy since it is an uncapped product. Then I get told "well its better than ADSL which is 3GB" that matters fckall to me. I didnt sign up for 10GB since if it was 10GB I would have thought twice about it.

By all means - cap international downloads to 10GB and leave local alone. I could live with that.

And I told him that they cant expect users to use less of the service they are paying in full for. They should shape/cap the users traffic after he exceeds 10GB (international). This blocking your account is nonsense (which is apparently what happens on the 3rd warning)

I have decided if they close my account for using my product then I will go straight to the bank and stop the debit order (or cancel the credit card). Im not paying for something that is taken away from me. If I pay my money I must get my service. If I want dialup and browsing I will go back to dialup.

IMO th 128k users should not have any kind of soft cap or whatever. or explicitly hard cap 128/256/512 to 24/42/80GB which is 80%/75%/70% which I think is fair.

Their website still claims that they don't cap at all and that they do not limit the amount of data you transfer in any way:

http://www.sentech.co.za/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=132&bid=22&btitle=ProductsAndServices&meid=147

"Is my usage capped on my MyWireless account?
You’re throughput rate is defined by the package you purchase. Sentech does however not limit the amount of data via your connection and does not vary the quality of service according to the amount of data transferred. Thus the maximum amount of data transferable is defined by the speed of your chosen package, not a usage cap."

So there you have it.

there you have what? thats not going to stop them from cutting you off. They got away with the international capping with no media coverage. They can also just go and change the website.

the way it was explained is if you download to much 10/20/40G you will be encouraged to upgrade it was also said they will not be to strict on it ... the thing is i purchaced a 128kbs connection on 1:30 contention i can get 40G on 128kbs i doubt anyone will be able to pull 50% 100% of the time so the logical cap is 20Gb ...

10Gb is 25% of your speed 100% of the month just to put it in perspective what sentech arses have not realised the guys pulling 10+ on 128k will be almost certainaly pulling 20G+ on 256k for one simple reason they are the heavy downloaders from predominantly local sites ... and the higher speed will mean faster and more downloads ...

they dont have a ****ing clue about these things ....

Write a nice compliant to the Advertising Standards Authority about deliberate misinformation. In BOLD they advertised "No cap", in the small print "subject to..." which they now effectively turned into a cap.

They might be slow, but their wheels do churn. It might be an advantage over the longer term.
