I don't get why Saffers are so desperate for Eelawn tech. Have they chatted to MyBB Expits?

His Tesla cars catch fire. His mars mission will crash and burn. TwitterX is dead. He's pals with Pootin. I bet Starlink is basically CCCP spyware.

And let's not forget Amber Turd shat his bed. Several times

He enjoyed the turds though.

But his sky-data tech though is attractive cos all ICASA and the SA Government can do is shake their fist at the sky.

But that already turned out to be false, he already bowed to governments when they demand to block roaming.
if they do ever decide to launch here you can be damn sure they will do whatever ICASA wants and follow the rules, why anyone thinks differently is weird to me.

Anyone expecting Elon to go "Screw you ICASA and ANC we will give the people internet whether you like it or not" is definitely living in a dream world.

True, but I'm just largely taking the piss out of things with Shaun.

I personally find the technology attractive because it possibly opens the opportunity for me to go live in gat-kant-van-die-werld and still be able to operate as if I'm in real civilisation.

/plays spot the Muskette

I blame all those Pretoria Old Boys for their despicable ... therefore, no spacy-spacy internet!

So clearly BEE/local ownership requirements aren't an issue for Starlink like they keep claiming, they just don't want to put in the honestish hard work in SA.
Minor correction. They haven't claimed anything, everyone has just speculated on the reasons why they won't launch here.

The only thing they have said is they prioritize countries where it is easier to launch.

Its called ease of doing business.

Zim made it easy in so much as you pay this man 10%, and you have a license, finish and klaar.

SA has rules and paperwork and and and , oh and courts that kind of work so if they try give Elon a free pass, you can bet your bottom dollar everyone will have ICASA in court in short order.
