Quiz – see how well you know your Apple products

With due respect to the techies here, I understand you guys use Apple products for different reasons
but the stupidest people I've ever encountered working in the mobile industry were all Apple users.
Inserting nano sim cards directly into the slot without the tray, not removing the original film over the display (which blocks the speaker)
then come back to the store to complain that they cant hear anything. Most people (not technically minded people) haven't a clue about apple products.
We've helped people who walk in the store wanting an iphone and when we ask why, their answer is 'because its an iphone''
It's a freaken 12 grand decision, why not do some research.

That's one of the reasons i feel like its just a fashion statement. The other thing is that people used to come from an istore to us in order to set up their devices, if Apple is this huge perfect company, why cant they train their staff to troubleshoot their own products.

Anyways those are some of my gripes.

iStore is not Apple. iStore is Core. Common mistake.

Apple Store overseas is Apple.

"Because it's an iPhone" sounds perfectly reasonable to me, there is no competitor.

The majority of educated, employed, well-off, upper-end users of the market must be wrong.

To make Android/non-Apple users feel better, they actually create this fictitious concept that Apple owners look down on others. They can't bare the thought of having paid so much money for something advertised as having octa-core CPUs and 3GB RAM phones, which actually perform worse than dual-core CPU and 1GB RAM iPhones, which remain stable and consistently fast and smooth for multiple generations and iOS versions, without crashes and constant battery pulls. Shame, if only Android users had a proper premium non-fragmented OS, maybe they'd stop playing this fabricated blame game to make themselves feel better.

Oh my Dolby, I think you hit a nerve lachen.gif

You addressed not only non iPhone users, but non Apple users as well. Check my sig, what can Apple offer that can compete?

I'll tell you once you remove it from your signature. ;)

can give you a much better experience using old/cheap hardware

Exactly! I think it's brilliant of them! Wrap old/cheap hardware in classy looking aluminum and have massive margins.

I've been in marketing and if people knew how products are pushed to them, they'd be shocked.
I don't know why people 'think' brand A is better than brand B just because of the hype around it.
This isn't an ios/apple vs android rant. I am just as much against Samsung (phones and partially TV's).

Pay a price for a product that's within reason it doesn't matter how 'rich' you are.
Compare specs vs price vs overall quality and make an informed decision.

In terms of the PC market do you know what a killer machine you can get at the same price of an Apple product.

Exactly!

I've never understood the fanatical brand loyalty and utter zealotry that some people have. Why wouldn't you base your choice on price, how the device performs, reliability etc instead of sticking to a particular brand or even avoiding a brand.

Jesus christ is that what that trash can costs?

Lmaoooooo

Yip. Look, it's neat that they got two AMD graphics cards in the bin :)D), but the specs are horrid for the price. Single processor, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB storage and two midrange FirePros (they're about 30 % slower than the FirePro W7100, which is R 12,000). Those FirePro D500s do around 2.2 GFLOPS each, a single Titan does 4.5 GFLOPS - just being FirePros doesn't mean they're top end cards.

A Core i7-5960X is very similar to the Xeon used in the Mac Pro but offers 33 % more cores. Look what you can do for R 59,000 (I'm not even going to shop around for better pricing, I'll just use WootWare)...

Core i7-5930K 3.50 GHz / 3.70 GHz Turbo 6-core Processor - R 9,434
ASUS X99-A/USB 3.1 LGA2011v3 Motherboard - R 4,266
G.Skill 4x8GB 32 GB DDR4-2666 Quad Channel RAM - R 3,599
Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB SSD - R 6,093
Western Digital 6 TB Green Hard Drive - R 3,299
Western Digital 6 TB Green Hard Drive - R 3,299
LG 16x BluRay Writer - R 1,365
Galax GeForce GTX 980 Ti Hall of Fame Edition 6 GB Graphics Card - R 11,199
Galax GeForce GTX 980 Ti Hall of Fame Edition 6 GB Graphics Card - R 11,199
Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Chassis - R 2,076
Corsair HX1000i 1000w PSU - R 3,377
Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit - R 1,658

R 58,499 - you have a similar CPU that you can overclock by around another 1 GHz with a better cooler, you have twice the RAM, you have four times the solid state storage, you have an extra 12 TB of storage, you have two faster graphics cards (yes, they'll be faster in most if not all professional applications such as CAD), yes I've remembered to include Windows and you can even upgrade this system at a later stage as nothing is proprietary or soldered in place.

Don't forget warranty, unless you pay extra your R 58,999 Mac Pro only comes with a one year warranty, the hardware listed above averages three years. Do you know how expensive Macs are to repair out of warranty? Call Digicape and get a price on a screen for a non-Retina 13" mid 2012 Macbook Pro - it's in the FIVE DIGIT range. Oh, one of your FirePros in the Mac Pro failed? You're without your entire Mac. One of the GeForce cards in the PC failed? Take it out and send it back.
