I want to close off our patio to turn it into an extra room. I have one quote so far and need to get some more quotes but I wanted to ask people on here what they think about the quote.

The patio is about 2.5m x 3.6m.

This is what I have on the current quote.

Total R34 200,00

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions on service providers who can do something similar.

Thanks

Depends on what u plan on using the additional room for.

I closed off my patio with patio blinds.
4 openings approx 2.5m x 3.8m each
Total came to 25k.
It's an entertainment area.

It will be used as an office/reception area for clients. Plan on closing it off with the glass and aluminium and then adding some sort of blinds. It is only three sides, as the other side already has a door. So by the estimate it does not look bad then since the closing off part also comes in at about R25k.

That price actually looks relatively decent.. R25k for the windows and doors is probably relatively reasonable.

I love how these guys always charge you on top of the quote for what are their costs.

i.e the travel and the rubble removal.

Are these guys qualified electricians installing those lights and plug?

I'll have to find out who will be doing the electrical installation, good point. How would it work if an electrician did it, would he issue a new certificate or something?

Please get at least 3 quotes and then decide. You will be surprised to see the difference in quotes. Apart from Google search, we frequently search here.

A while ago, we invited 3 quotations for a single metal security gate - quotes received were 7200, 11500 and 20K. Maybe 20K was using titanium but I don't think so :)
