Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced details of its new PLAYSTATION 3 model that will launch throughout the SCEE territories on 10th October 2007 at the highly attractive price of R4 499 locally.
Providing an appealing entry point to the world of High Definition gaming and entertainment for the holiday season, the new PS3 brings the next generation of interactive home entertainment to homes all across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australasia.
I thought you were going to mark press releases as such?
While I agree this is a good move by Sony that press release is a bit over the top...
Um the Xbox 360 Core offers High Definition gaming for R2000 less and it also has a lot mroe games available....
but ps3 is more powerfull. install linux on it and it can do everything a pc can.
Search through the 100's of PS3 vs X360 threads. The PS3 is NOT more powerful (in most cases it's even graphically inferior), just more expensive because of it's BD drive.but ps3 is more powerfull. install linux on it and it can do everything a pc can.
P.S. Why in gods name would I want to install linux on my games console?
That was exactly my point as well....
marketing for the masses
Don't get too excited before SK announce the new model / price. Wouldn't be the first time we got screwed.

use it as a complete entertainment system. with a tv card, you can even turn it into a pvr. no graphic acceleration yet, but im sure they'll figure something out soon. use software you want to to play mp3's divx, etc.

Or just install XP Media centre on a PC, hook it up to your xbox and get all of that and a bit more... yes, even the PVR bit...![]()
yep, xbox + pc = 2 devices.
Even the original Xbox could be used as a media centre, and it interfaced nicely with the likes of cuteFTP. Does that make you think that the PS3 is special because it can do something that a previous generation console could do?
