While I agree this is a good move by Sony that press release is a bit over the top...

PS3 is not more powerful and the linux installation does not have full access to the hardware which means it is pretty useless anyway.

Search through the 100's of PS3 vs X360 threads. The PS3 is NOT more powerful (in most cases it's even graphically inferior), just more expensive because of it's BD drive.

That being said, I have to admit that as a standalone BD player, it's sort of good value considering that other standalone players are going for R6000+

Repeating the line: "(a total of 65 titles across all genres by Christmas)" a couple of times, and not stating anything about it's competitors' pricing/games/bundles shows that it is clearly an add, and not an article.

use it as a complete entertainment system. with a tv card, you can even turn it into a pvr. no graphic acceleration yet, but im sure they'll figure something out soon. use software you want to to play mp3's divx, etc.

Or just install XP Media centre on a PC, hook it up to your xbox and get all of that and a bit more... yes, even the PVR bit...

Even the original Xbox could be used as a media centre, and it interfaced nicely with the likes of cuteFTP. Does that make you think that the PS3 is special because it can do something that a previous generation console could do?

geeez, im being attacked from all directions. linux just makes it more versatile i think. there are millions of linux applications you could load on it. why do you hate the ps3 so much?
