Political party protests over IEC deposit
Cathy Mohlahlana | 30 Minutes Ago

A group of protestors from the Socialist Green Coalition picketed outside the offices of the Independent Electoral Commission in Parktown on Wednesday.

The party demanded that the IEC lower the R500 000 deposit that parties have to pay before they can run in the elections.

The organisation’s Trevor Nguane said the IEC was discriminating against the poor and the working class.

“We want to have a voice in the election. The IEC demands R500 000 deposit. We think that is too much. This is the highest election deposit in the world."

Well who is going to vote for a party that can't even read the instructions to begin with.

This is the story;-

You can register a political party for R500, but if you want to take part in this year’s general election, it’ll cost you R540 000.

That's quite a lot of money sitting in some account !
